A satchel, and off to Alsace!

Lovely towns and generous nature! Alsace, punctuated by numerous ⛰ mountain ranges, is truly a land of trail. Nature runners, you'll fall in love with this beautiful region!

Former French region (until 2015 and the restructuring of regions), this area of Eastern France 🇫🇷 will continue to exist as a cultural territory. Located on the French-German border, Alsace has an exceptional cultural heritage, making it a fantastic travel or weekend destination... Who hasn't visited Strasbourg and its city center listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988 is missing out big time! You will delight in the distinct architecture of the half-timbered houses, traditionally developed in Alsace to withstand earthquakes. Once you leave the city, you will quickly encounter the terrain of the Vosges. If you're someone without borders, the German mountains ⛰ of the Black Forest 🌲 aren't far... They're even visible from Strasbourg! In northern Alsace, at Haguenau, the largest forest in this territory is labeled Forest of Exception by the national forest office, a label held by only about twenty forests in France... It covers 21,000 hectares, plenty of space to get lost, right? Passing through Mulhouse, Colmar, and Belfort, other flagship cities of Alsace, you can reach the Jura massif... Forests 🌲, famous mountains ⛰, hills, plains, the mosaic of natural landscapes offered by Alsace is a real symphony 🎼! For trail lovers, it's a perfect playground. Be warned, sensitive ones, the Alsatian climate is continental: it's very cold in winter 🥶 and rather hot in summer 🥵!

A trail in Alsace? One of the most famous nature races in Alsace is the Munster'trail! Around Colmar, several distances are offered at night 🌙, including a long trail and an ultra trail. A chance to enjoy, even in the darkness 👻, the beauties of the Ballons des Vosges Natural Park that hosts the event... In Rouffach, near the German border, the Petit Ballon Trail and Grands Crus Circuit welcomes epicureans who love to combine palate pleasure 😋 with the pleasure of running. In this case, Alsatian wine 🍷, combined with the gastronomic delights of this land, is worth many detours. The Vosgian Ridges is a historic race in Alsace. Created in 1976, the event takes you to the heights of the Vosges, through forests 🌲 and lakes, near Orbey in the Haut-Rhin. To make the most of it, the organizers have thought of setting up a relay race... For runners who like to mix trail and city, the Grand Mulhouse Urban Trail is perfect! On the menu, stairs and alleys in the heart of Mulhouse but also nature trails to enjoy the city's lush surroundings. The Haut-Koenigsbourg Trail, held near the town of Kintzheim in the Bas-Rhin, represents a real opportunity to discover the regional culture while drawing from your physical resources as you love it! You'll particularly enjoy the view around the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, on your route. Several crossings of animal parks are also planned to ease 😍 the difficulty of the course!

Whew 😓, the choice will be tough... But the satchel is packed!
