Race Timing in Colmar

It's the question we all ask: how long does each participant take to complete their race? 🤔 That's the whole point of timing, which measures the time from start to finish to establish the rankings. For a long time done by hand with a stopwatch, it is now electronic ⏱️. Chips attached to the bib, the shoe or the bike are automatically detected on the ground as participants pass. In practice, this system relies on timing mats equipped with RFID antennas, laid on the ground at the start line, the finish line and intermediate checkpoints: each chip emits a unique frequency picked up to the thousandth of a second, guaranteeing flawlessly accurate rankings. It is also thanks to it that we can distinguish the official time (calculated from the starting signal) from the net time, which only starts when you cross the line, which is very handy when you start at the back of the pack!
