Race timing in Mulhouse

It’s the question we all ask ourselves: how long does each participant take to complete their race? 🤔 That’s the whole point of timing, which measures the time from start to finish to establish the rankings. Long done with a handheld stopwatch, it is now electronic ⏱️. Chips attached to the bib, shoe, or bike are automatically detected on the ground as participants pass. In practical terms, this system relies on timing mats equipped with RFID antennas, placed on the ground at the start line, finish line, and intermediate checkpoints: each chip emits a unique frequency captured down to the thousandth of a second, ensuring impeccable ranking accuracy. It’s also thanks to it that we distinguish official time (calculated from the starting signal) from net time, which only starts the moment you cross the line—very handy when you start at the back of the pack!

In concrete terms, what does that look like?
