While some runners begin their careers before even learning to walk, Nicolas was not always destined to be a runner 🏃. Between injuries, dreams, and unexpected surprises, here's the story of a somewhat exceptional French athlete: Nicolas Navarro 🇫🇷.

A childhood shaped by sports 🚴

From a young age, Nicolas demonstrated a strong will and energy when it came to physical activities. He grew up with his older brother and tried to match him in sports 👟. At 11, his first passion took shape, and it was not running but rather cycling. He then joined a small local club: that of La Garde. Road cycling was and remains his primary passion 🔥. As a child, his biggest dream was to participate in the Tour de France.

Discovering the practice 🔍

It wasn't until 5 years later, in 2008, that he approached running. He began by following in his older brother's footsteps in trail running. At that time, he was recovering from a severe fall in cycling and gradually moved away from the bike 🚲. His new passion excited him so much that he spent his Sundays exploring the region searching for timed races. He loved the adrenaline, the speed, and the competition felt in the effort 💥.

In 2016, he decided to take a license with the Athlé Provence Club to better structure his training, avoid injuries, and improve his performance. His first long preparation led him to run the very famous Marseille-Cassis, organized annually between the two cities of the same name 🏙️. The results were promising, and Nicolas managed to reach the 8th position in the overall ranking and 2nd French position 🥈. He then fully realized his potential and officially embarked on running.

Heading towards international success 🌍

With continual training and perseverance 🧠, the southerner achieved his first selection in the French team in 2020, as part of the world championships of half marathon. The destination was Poland 🇵🇱 to perform under the national colors. On this occasion, he clocked a time of 1:02:29 and achieved the 45th place in the competition.

Among his other major achievements, he also qualified for the starting lines of two famous marathons: the marathon of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games 🇯🇵 and the 2024 JOP, where he finished in 12th and 16th positions, respectively 🏁.

In short, Nicolas Navarro is above all an athlete with dreams 💭 who strives to fulfill them. He wasn't destined for racing, started practicing late, and still qualified for the world's biggest marathons, with a colossal PR of 2h 05' and 53"⏱️.
