Marseille Cassis
Marseille-Cassis! Just the name makes you want to be there 😍.
South, Bouches-du-Rhône, Côte d’Azur, PACA, beaches 🏖️, sea 🌊, calanques 🏞️, sun 🌞, stunning landscapes, want more? 🤔 It takes a true enthusiast to deny the beauty of the south of France 🤪.
The famous Marseille-Cassis race needs no introduction… But we'll still tell you more about this sublime world-renowned event 🌎 created in 1979. During the first edition, 700 participants took part in the race 🤓. Today, over 20,000 participants set off on this route each year! 🤯 Plus, it's in October, so you won't be too hot 🥵 or too cold 🥶. The south is amazing! 😜
Meet at the Orange Vélodrome stadium in Marseille, not for an OM match 🔵⚪️ but to start this superb road race 🛣️. The magic of Marseille-Cassis also resides in its course 🧭. Because, yes, along the 20 km, you'll experience a multitude of postcard landscapes 🌅, with the crossing of the Calanques National Park, a breathtaking natural panorama over 12 km 🥰. The climax? You finish your journey in the heart of vineyards of Provence, in Cassis. We've seen worse finishes 😅.
If you're coming for the Marseille-Cassis marathon, it doesn't exist 😬, but you can just as well do the return Cassis-Marseille, that works too 🙃. You'll experience a wide range of emotions (not to mention various gradients) with plenty of positive and negative elevation, a 5 km ascent 📈, and the Col de la Gineste ⛰️ at 327 meters above sea level, but trust us, the beauty of the course and the diversity of the landscapes will make you forget your pain 😌. It's no accident that every year, runners from around the world 🏃 mark Marseille-Cassis on their calendar… 🗓️
If you want to take on the challenge ✅, note that bibs for the 20 km Marseille-Cassis are highly sought after, and the race usually sells out weeks before race day! 🥲 Don't worry, the organizers offer a resale system once registrations are closed, but still be quick if you want to get your precious ticket and have a chance to cross the finish line 🏁.
After such a burst of energy 🔋, you'll probably be hungry 🍽️. Unless you've packed some bouillabaisse in your backpack 🎒, we can suggest a nice slice of anchoïade for an appetizer 😋. Here, there's no fixed time to start the aperitif! 🥂 If you're not too cold, the calanques and the Mediterranean await you for a quick dip 🏊♂️. Otherwise, head back to Marseille to enjoy all its marvels ✨.
