Ready to break through in the world of trail running? ⭐️ If so, there’s no better place than Pierre-Percée. The LIGHT ON team is organizing a friendly event around Lake Pierre-Percée! 🎉 By focusing on endurance sports, they aim to help them evolve 📈. So it’s on the border between Meurthe-et-Moselle and the Vosges that your next meetup awaits 📅. Next April, you’re expected in the town of Celles-sur-Plaine, in the heart of the Grand Est. You’ll have the choice between 2 distances close to the lake 🛶, 17 km, or we double the stake and then some, with 37 km! A route right in the middle of nature, with forest and well-marked paths. It promises to be really nice! 🤪
A trail, climbs, descents, and paths around the water 🏖️. Two courses are offered so you can make the most of the surroundings. Whether you’re a regular or a beginner motivated by challenges ⚡️, the routes are designed to satisfy you. So get ready for your next breakthrough through this beautiful nature 🏞️. For that, you’ve got options: the first trail is organized over 17 km. For the detail-oriented, let’s be precise: you’ll run exactly 16.95 km 🏃, plus 509 mD+. Along the shores of Lake Pierre-Percée, you’ll follow its right-hand side before heading into the surrounding forest 🌳. Second option: 37 km—sorry, 36.89 km and 1,080 mD+; now we’re not joking 😬. Here, you’ll start with the 17 km route, and you’ll have one extra loop to the southeast of the lake, in the Vosges forest 🌲. In both cases, these are two well-designed routes that will show you the surrounding area the way it should be📍.
With your sharp eye, you can continue a wonderful journey in the region 😉. In northeastern France, between Nancy, Strasbourg and Dijon, the surrounding area offers plenty of post-race destinations. Without needing to go too far 😃, Lake Pierre-Percée is well known in Lorraine, and a good picnic around it is always welcome! 🧺 And given the region, you’ll have plenty to fill your stomach with great local specialties! A homemade quiche Lorraine, accompanied by delicious mirabelle plums for dessert. With that, the meal is taken care of. If your deductions are correct, Alsace isn’t far from here 🫣. Why not extend the fun with a little weekend in Strasbourg? 🥨 Just 1 hour by car and you’ll be in the Capital of Alsace, also known as the European capital—class 😎. Visits, tastings, and meetups: in this city, there’s plenty to do! Hopla Geiss, as they would say 🤣.
We hope your bag is ready for your next trail, and that your pierre-pensée (worst thought) is only: "I’m going to be first" 🥇.
A word from the organizer:
"LIGHT ON is back in trail format with two races around the lakes of Pierre-Percée"
Through the forests and the trails of Lorraine, this race promises to be beautiful and tough.
As with the 17 km route, you’ll start your loop on the shore of Lac de la Plaine 🛶, just below the big lake. From km 3, you’ll be along the edges of Lac de Pierre-Percée, which will stay on your left until km 9. Km 10 will mark the end of the watery scenery and you’ll head straight into the forest 🌳.
You’ll go as far as km 12, to the Grotte des Poilus, before taking a short aid-station break 🍌 for the next kilometres, which promise to be demanding 🥵. You’ll keep scrambling through the forest up to Noires Colas and link together climbs and descents before reaching the Pierre à Cheval observation post 🐴.
The terrain will stay quiet until you arrive in the town of Pierre-Percée at km 33, where you’ll face a solid climb for about 1 km. You’ll finally be able to catch your breath and enjoy the descent that will take you to the finish arch 🏁, by Lac de la Plaine.
A trail along the lake shore is a good compromise to enjoy a run out in nature 🏞️.
You’ll start your loop on the shore of Lac de la Plaine, just below the large lake 🛶. From km 3, you’ll be on the edges of Lac de Pierre-Percée, which will be on your left until km 9. Km 10 will mark the end of the watery scenery 💦 and you’ll head right into the forest 🌳.
You’ll go as far as km 11 before taking the path back on your loop 🔁, in the middle of the trees. To mark this change, you’ll be welcomed by a small aid station break 🍌. You’ll top up your energy for the last kilometers, which are shaping up to be tough 😲. The terrain will stay calm until you reach the town of Pierre-Percée at km 13, where you’ll face a nice final climb 📈 for about 1 km.
And finally, back to the north of Lac de la Plaine, for a well-deserved finish ⭐️.
