The main difficulty is absolutely not the elevation gain, with the course showing a very flat 0 m D+, but rather the extreme weather conditions 😬. Even in the middle of summer, the mercury hovers around below-freezing temperatures, and the terrain is particularly unstable, alternating between powder snow and hard ice. Your thermal gear plays a crucial role in preserving your body heat throughout the effort. Only a few hundred finishers have crossed this finish line since the event was created in 2003, thus inscribing their feat in the prestigious record book.
