On this 14of July, how about running after the king's flower? 👑 No Revolution ⚔️ or Storming of the Bastille. Here, you will land straight into the Trail de La Fleur du Roy 🌹, in Corrençon-en-Vercors, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, to celebrate the trail on the day of the National Holiday! 🎉 This event, created by the Amicale des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Corrençon-en-Vercors 🚒, is a true challenge for runners 🏃♂️ seeking thrills and breathtaking landscapes 🤯. The course will weave through magnificent forests 🌲, ascend mountain peaks 🏔️ and traverse altitude ⬆️. A real breath of fresh air in the heart of nature! 🌿
Two distances are on the program 🗓️: a Trail XXS and a Trail XS. Whether you prefer short trail for a sporty escape, or long trail for an endurance challenge 🥵, there's something for everyone! Ready to flower the tarmac? 🌼 Let's go! 😜 In an exceptional setting, you will tread the varied terrains of the Vercors: trails, meadows, paths… You won't have time to get bored! 😎 Let's talk numbers: how many kilometers will you have to cover to earn the Fleur du Roy? 🤔 14 km or 24 km, it's your choice! But where there's a mountain, there's also elevation gain 📈. So you'll have to count 539 mD+ for the XXS race and double that for the XS race, which is 1,073 mD+. Yes, being a trail runner also requires counting skills! 🤓 Nonetheless, you won't need to engage your brain on the course 🧠; it will be your legs that need waking up ⏰. The routes for both events are very hilly and will use the GR91, crossing the entire Vercors! 🤩 You'll have the chance to discover the region's highest points 📍: the Croix de La Sambue, the Belvédère des Granges, or the hamlet of La Fleur du Roy… You'll be left speechless! 😵
And speaking of Vercors, let's explore what you could do after your race! 😁 Less than an hour by car 🚗, you could head to Grenoble and visit the Bastille, for a panoramic view over the city 🌃. You could also opt for a family walk 👨👩👧👦 at the Jardin des Dauphins or enrich your mind at the Musée de Grenoble 💡. If you're more into nature, the Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors 🏞️ is a true gem with its stunning landscapes 😲. You could even go paragliding for an unforgettable aerial view of the park 🪂. For the less adventurous 😅, the winter sports resort of Villard-de-Lans 🎿 is just a stone's throw from Corrençon-en-Vercors! 😌 You can take a tour to enjoy the summer season sports 🌞: mountain biking, summer luging, or even horseback riding 🐎. For a moment of relaxation, head to the Thermes d'Uriage 💧, ideal for recovering from such a race! 🧖♂️
So, ready to take on the challenge of the Trail de La Fleur du Roy? 👊
Do you want to challenge yourself on the trail of 24 km, but you want to know a little bit more about the course? 🤔 Then don't stop reading now, you're in the right place! 😉
After the 1st km through the village 🏘️, you'll climb towards "La Glacière" and "Pré Pansu", then tackle one last hill to reach the 5th km. You'll follow with a small section of road and 2 more undulating km 📈. Upon reaching the 8th km, you'll be at the most challenging moment 😬 due to the 150 mD+ that will take you to "La Croix de La Sambue", the highest point of your journey (1,575 m). You'll see Le Grand Veymont (2,341 m) and descend to the first refreshment point (km 10). You'll head towards "Baraque Guillet", "Collet de la Coinchette", "Porte Barnier", and finally "45th Parallel". This 5 km portion, at the gates of the Hauts Plateaux du Vercors Nature Reserve, is mostly downhill but technical in places. At km 15, you'll meet the XXS trail runners, where a single track and a wide ascent will take you to "La Fleur du Roy" (1,157 m) and the second refreshment point (km 17). You'll start a 2 km descent 📉 to then ascend again to "Pré Pansu" at km 20.5. Another kilometer of descent will await you before the last challenge to finally reach the "Belvédère des Granges".
You will be able to enjoy a view of the mountains before your final descent towards the village and the finish line 🏁.
A trail of 14 km on July 14th? It's a sign for you to participate! 😎
After the first 1 km through the village 🏘️, the course follows the GR 91. It will take you on a small detour by the golf course of Corrençon-en-Vercors to then reach back the trail until km 5.5. A technical single will allow you to reach a wide climb 📈 and reach "La Fleur du Roy", the highest point (1,357 m), and the only refreshment station of this event, at km 7 🍽️. You'll be halfway and will have already gained 300 mD+. You'll then regain strength during a 2 km descent 📉 before climbing back to "Pré Pansu" at km 10.8. You'll have the chance to rest again during another km of descent before the last challenge: "Le Belvédère des Granges" 😬.
From that point, you can admire the mountain chain ⛰️, before heading back to the village and crossing the finish line! 🏁
