Winter Trail Małopolska 2026

If you thought that Małopolska in winter is just skiing in Zakopane, then Winter Trail Małopolska (WTM) will quickly prove you wrong. It’s one of the toughest and most atmospheric winter races in Poland. The event base is in Lubień, and the routes lead through the wild and unpredictable trails of the Beskid Wyspowy (including Szczebel and Luboń Wielki).

The ascent to Szczebel is legendary. In winter, with ice or deep snow, it turns into a near-vertical battle for every meter. This is where the grip of your microspikes and the strength of your character are tested. 📈🧊 There’s no room for boredom! Technical descents over snow-covered rocks and roots demand total focus and are just waiting for mountain runners ready to tame them 🎢👟

When you return from the freezing trails to the base in Lubień, Małopolska will welcome you the way only it can:

A bonfire and a hot meal: At the WTM finish line, there’s always a fire and a hearty portion of food waiting. Roasting sausages together and chatting with other “frozen” runners is the best kind of bonding. 🔥🌭

Thermal baths nearby: Lubień lies close to the route to Zakopane, so you have excellent access to the Chochołów Thermal Baths or the Thermal Baths in Bukowina Tatrzańska. Nothing restores you after a winter ultra like a few hours in hot thermal water. 🛀🌋

A visit to Rabka-Zdrój: The nearby spa town offers a brine graduation tower and the Spa Park. A walk in such a microclimate is a great way to help your airways recover after breathing frosty air during the race. 🌲⛲

Regional cuisine in roadside inns: In the area around Pcim or Skomielna Biała, you’ll find inns serving dishes that really “stick to your ribs.” Sour rye soup served in bread or dumplings with sauerkraut and mushrooms are must-tries. 🥟🥣

Rest by the Raba River: Although in winter the river doesn’t invite you to swim, a peaceful walk along its banks in Lubień will help you calm down after the battle on the course. 🌊❄️
