Races in Vaud

The canton of Vaud stretches from the shores of Lake Geneva to the peaks of the Alps, with the Jura as a backdrop to the west 🌄. Lausanne, the Olympic capital, sets the pace, surrounded by Montreux, Yverdon-les-Bains and Payerne. For races in Vaud, the setting changes with every valley: lakeside, terraced vineyards, fir forests or ridges above 2,000 m.

The lake softens the climate and makes it possible to run by the water almost all year round. The Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site, form terraces facing Lake Geneva, while the Jura plateau keeps its snow until March ❄️. At altitude, the Vaud Alps around Villars and Les Diablerets open their trails from June. The calendar therefore runs from February to November, with night races, snow trails and road events, enough to fill every weekend.

The Vaud race calendar covers every format. In Lausanne, the 20 km de Lausanne kicks off spring in April, and the Lausanne Marathon runs along Lake Geneva in October 🏃. In the mountains, the Montreux-Les Rochers-de-Naye race climbs up into the clouds in June and the Montreux Trail Festival brings trail runners together in July. Villars hosts UCI The Majestics for cycling fans, and in the Vallée de Joux, the Tour du Lac de Joux is run in June. To climb even higher, neighboring Valais offers its trails in Valais.

Charlie Chaplin spent the end of his life in Corsier-sur-Vevey, facing the lake, and Freddie Mercury made Montreux his refuge: artists love these shores 🎶. At the table, papet vaudois and cabbage sausage comfort you after the effort, and Vacherin Mont-d'Or does the rest 🧀. From a short 5 km to the marathon, choose the race that matches your level, and Vaud takes care of the view.
