Forget about the Swiss watches that go "tick-tock" nonstop, here the only rhythm that matters is that of your sneakers on the docks ๐. Let's meet in the heart of the Canton of Vaud, in Switzerland Romandie, for the 33rd edition of a sports monument that keeps making a name for itself๐จ๐ญ. With over 14,000 participants expected, a true human tide is ready to run on the Riviera ๐. The program is simple and effective: the mythical marathon of 42.195 km, but also a half-marathon and a quarter-marathon (10 km), so everyone can take a bite of the bar ๐ซ. Well, being in the land of chocolate, it's hard not to eat it at least once...
By the way, did you know this race was born from a promise made to Japan in 1993? ๐ฏ๐ต After a "Arigato Gozaimasu", the event came to life the following year, coinciding with the opening of the Olympic Museum ๐๏ธ. On these grounds, it's a bit like if Baron Pierre de Coubertin decided to go jogging with Charlie Chaplin, since the route connects Lausanne to Vevey, aka the welcoming land of the illustrious Chaplin ๐ฉ. This time, however, we are not in a silent film, but the scenery between Lake Geneva and the golden vineyards of Lavaux (listed at UNESCO, please!) might take your breath away as much as the elevation ๐. In 1995, the AIMS even ranked the event among the 20 most beautiful in the world. That's to say if the spot is "Instagrammable" before its time! ๐ธ
Are you doubting the atmosphere? Better not, over there it's a mix of Swiss seriousness for the organization and a touch of madness on the course โญ๏ธ. We recall the 2011 edition, where runners dressed up for Halloween transformed the group into a giant horror film (but with smiles) ๐. Other anecdotes include legends like Tesfaye Eticha, the "Modest Giant" with 7 victories, or Laura Hrebec, who flirted with records under a pouring rain ๐ง๏ธ. This year, the spirit of solidarity also grips the race. All registrations will support "Lรฉman Hope", an association that restores confidence to young people in cancer remission through sailing ๐ค. Running for a good cause is still the best fuel โค๏ธ.
Especially for this race, don't forget we're in the land of fondue and chocolate (all for a good diet), and there's plenty to see ๐. If you still have strength after the effort, take a tour of the Parc de Milan or enjoy a cruise on the boat "Lausanne" to see the vineyards from the water ๐ข. Otherwise, visit the Olympic Museum or say hello to the Chaplin statue in Vevey, to better soak in the history of the race. And to better understand the culture, you might as well end the day with a typical fondue and of course, a chocolate bar as we introduced it to you ๐.
In short, you understand that your only concern is to choose the right distance. The organization will handle the rest ๐ช.
The departure will take place in two groups from Milan Square at 10:05 โ๏ธ, just below the park of the same name ๐ณ. Passing by the Olympic Park and its museum will no doubt give you a little extra energy... โก๏ธ Pully, Paudex, Lutry, Cully, you will speed through all the towns lining the lake. You'll pass by some beaches that will make you want to take a dip ๐๏ธ. In Cully, you'll take a little tour around the town and a few zigzags before heading back along the lake. The 20 km mark will be reached in Vevey, where you will turn around just after the Petit Port Eiffel. The return to Lausanne will follow the same route, so you'll have all your landmarks in sight. Just before the 40th km, the route will take a turn towards the Ouchy Quay and port ๐ข for a finish at Place Bellerive. It is located right next to the Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze, its beaches... ๐๏ธ Delight awaits!
For the half-marathon ๐โโ๏ธ runners, the start will also be from Place de Milan but this time at 8:40 AM, under the park. You will head towards the town of Cully for an exceptional double point-to-point run! The race will take place along the Lake Geneva, one of the most beautiful in Europe, and it crosses the lakeside towns: Pully, Paudex, Lutry...
It is in the village of Cully that you will make a turnaround, not without enjoying the beauty of the area and the charms of the village. The return to Lausanne will be on the same course, where you'll have all your landmarks. Shortly before the 40th km, the course takes a turn towards the Quai d'Ouchy and the port ๐ข. Like the runners of the marathon, the finish is planned at Place Bellerive, located right next to Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze and its beaches ! ๐
Runners, walkers, and Nordic walkers will have the same route. We don't have the same speed, but we share the same passion! โค๏ธโ๐ฅ Especially as it's enhanced by the beauty of the Lake Geneva, which will accompany you throughout your race ๐. The start will be from Milan Square. Once you've descended Avenue Denantou, you'll have reached the lakeside and will glide towards the town of Pully, located 3 km away.
It's at Paudex and on the road to Lavaux that the turnaround towards Lausanne will take place for a double city-to-city. Between km 7 and km 8, you will make a left turn towards Ouchy Quay and its port ๐ข. Like the runners in the marathon and the half, the finish line will be on Bellerive Square, located right next to Parc Emile-Henri-Jaques Dalcroze and its sandy beaches! ๐
The 10 km runners, walkers and Nordic walkers will have the same course.
The 10 km runners, walkers and nordic walkers will have access to the same course ๐.
