It is in Switzerland ๐จ๐ญ, in the canton of Vaud, more specifically in Montreux, that the 8th edition of the Montreux Trail Festival invites you at the end of July ๐๏ธ. It promises more than pleasant weather, ranging from 12 to 23ยฐC โ๏ธ. The event always has the same goal, to offer you an extraordinary challenge! ๐คฉ High-color challenges await you: courses in the heart โค๏ธ of the Vaud Alps ๐๏ธ from Bex and its Muveran massif to the shores of the largest lake in Western Europe ๐ช๐บ, Lake Geneva ๐. So, what does this edition have in store for us? ๐ง
Between sport ๐ช and music ๐ต, whether you are a runner, accompanying person, or simply a spectator, let yourself be tempted by a journey into the atmosphere of Queen ๐ฆ and its most iconic member: Freddie Mercury ๐ค, also charmed by the beauty of Montreux and its Riviera ๐ฆ. His statue will welcome you on the shores of Lake Geneva during a magical arrival ๐ช. What better way to summarize the program than โA kind of magicโ, an iconic song recorded at the Mountain Studio ๐๏ธ of Montreux. The mountains as far as the eye can see, the crystalline waters of Lake Geneva for a final arrival plunge ๐โโ๏ธ, innovative race formats, a subtle mix between accessible courses for all and others reserved for experienced enthusiasts ๐. And most importantly, an omnipresent musical atmosphere for a festive ambiance! ๐ These are the most beautiful, the most exciting, but also the most difficult races available. Saturday will be a full day of music ๐ถ, beach ๐๏ธ, food ๐, and drinks ๐ฅค by the Lake Geneva. You can attend live concerts on Saturday, and in the evening, the Queen's Tribute Band will bring runners from "Freddie's Night", the night race ๐ฆ of 15 km. The "Mxfamily" runners, who participate in a 32 km event mixing young and old ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ to share a special moment with your child ๐ง. You can stay around to party a bit more and encourage the finishers of "Mxalps" and "Mxtreme", who find their way back home ๐ after their 66 km and 100 km challenges ๐. But of course, you won't just be a spectator, but an actor in this festive weekend, first and foremost athletic ๐.
If you're looking for similar sporting challenges, still in Switzerland, let us suggest a few races. For example, the Diablerets Trail Blanc which takes place in March, The Mont-Terrible Races in April, or the Wildstrubel By UTMB in September. If you prefer road ๐ฃ๏ธ, you might like the Semi-Marathon CEP Cortaillod in March, the 20 km of Lausanne in April, or the Winterthur Marathon in May. If you want to extend the weekend, Montreux may well have some nice surprises ๐ for you. Like a bucolic and pleasant stroll, between lake and greenery on its wharves ๐ถ. For fans and even casual fans, the visit of the Queen Studio Experience is a must. You can discover among other things, the costumes ๐บ๐ผ and handwritten notes ๐ of the band leader, while listening to his tracks ๐ฝ. Stretching for about 30 km along the south-facing slopes of Lake Geneva, the terraced vineyards ๐ of the Lavaux region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the gastronomy ๐ฝ๏ธ side, Swiss cuisine is as diverse as the country. Nevertheless, it is primarily known for its traditional cheese meals like fondue ๐ซ and raclette ๐ฅ, as well as the creaminess of its chocolate ๐ซ.
Message from the organizer:
"When Freddie Mercury meets trail running"
The "Crossing Switzerland" is the main attraction and will allow you to cross the Swiss Alps from East to West ๐คฉ. You will thus discover the 7 cantons, some of which have remained deeply rooted in the purest Swiss tradition ๐.
๐บ๏ธ Here is the map of the Crossing Switzerland Ekiden:
This new original course mainly takes place in the Bernese Highlands before heading to the Pays-dโEnhaut ! ๐
A new route starting from the traditional chalets of Gstaad-Saanenland on the banks of the Sarine! You will pass by the Rรถstigraben, this famous divide of roesti that artificially separates German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland ๐คฉ.
Starting from Clarens, you will head towards Liboson dโen Haut, then pass by the Rochers de Naye and the Haut de Caux! You will finish the route in style, accompanied by your child for 1 km ๐ค.
The MXSKY is a sort of Vaud-style Sierre-Zinal, full of character, with exceptional panoramas while maintaining similar characteristics over approximately 32 km. You will climb through the old town of Montreux via the telegraph trail, then head towards the Rochers de Naye nestled at 2,000 m. After enjoying the view of Lake Geneva, you will have to reach it by passing through the Chauderon Gorge which will guide you straight to the Clarens beach! ๐
The icing on the cake, Freddieโs Night will unveil the secrets of the Chauderon Gorges at night, with a headlamp, transformed for the occasion into a true natural nightclub! Between rock, delirium, and discovery, put yourself in Freddie's shoes... and let yourself be carried away until the end of the night!

Each race bib is issued individually to each runner upon presentation of photo ID, after checking mandatory equipment. In case of loss of the chip, it must be reimbursed. The bib must be worn on the chest or stomach and must be visible at all times throughout the entire race. It should always be positioned above any clothing and under no circumstances should it be attached to the bag or a leg. The name and logo of the partners must not be modified or hidden. Except in the case of refusal to comply with a decision made by a race official, the bib is never withdrawn, but in case of withdrawal, it is deactivated.
Rookie: 2004 to 2006

Except in injury, a runner must not abandon elsewhere than at a checkpoint. They must then inform the post manager, who will definitively invalidate their bib. The runner keeps the invalidated bib, as it is their pass to access shuttles, buses, meals, care facilities... Anyone who leaves the race before finishing it and without notifying the organization must bear any search costs incurred by their disappearance.
In the event of adverse weather conditions justifying a partial or total race stop, the organization will ensure the return of halted runners as quickly as possible, from the refreshment points.
MANDATORY INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE
Helicopter repatriation costs over CHF 3,000. Every year, runners get caught off guard for not being adequately prepared. Each runner must have individual accident insurance covering potential search and evacuation costs in Switzerland.
