GRAND TRAIL DE SERRE-PONÇON
You're not joking anymore, absolutely not at all 😑. After shining ✨ on the introductory trail and the short trail, you've decided to step up with the long trail!
No point in lying: while some running distances are accessible to all, the long trail requires specific physical preparation 🏋️. Running between 42 and 80 kilometers is not within everyone’s reach 😳, regardless of the elevation or terrain of the chosen event. Your heart ❤️, your thighs (which must be as strong as concrete) and of course, your mind 💆 will be put to the test, whether you opt for snowy lands ❄️, seaside trails 🌊 or steep paths along the cliffs. The breathtaking natural beauty 😍 of the courses will help you overcome the hard times.
Where to start? Opt for a popular race? Between Lyon and Saint-Étienne ↔️, the Asics SaintéLyon attracts crowds of runners 🏃♀️. And why not take the opportunity to explore more of the Rhône department? A little further south, on the splendid natural plateaus 🏞️ around Millau, in theAveyron, the Templiers Festival 🕍 is a celebration that gathers thousands of runners, committed to various distances. In the north, you'll find the Trail du Bout du Monde ⛵ in Plouzané, the Trail Glazig in Plourhan, or even the Grand Raid of Finistère in Telgruc-sur-Mer. Overseas, in Reunion 🏝️, the Grand Raid offers a long trail distance. This race, known for its difficulty and stunning beauty 😍, is an ideal step to cross the long trail milestone before embarking on the Ultra Trail while contemplating the sunset 🌄.
It's up to you to decide which goal you want to aim for first 🥇. Who knows, you might meet legends of the discipline 🤯 like the German Hannes Namberger, winner of the Ultra Trail Cape Town in 2022, Benjamin Roubiol, world champion in long trail in Innsbruck (Austria), or even Nicolas Martin. On the women’s side, there is Blandine L’Hirondel, double world champion in the discipline in 2019 and 2022, and Marion Delespierre-Maupin, world champion of the long trail in 2023. Who knows, maybe your name will reach their level!
