The event in a few words

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run a marathon 🤯. In 1990, the Ladies Running Club of Malta created its own 10 km race! 😎 It is now an annual event: in October, in Siġġiewi, we run the LRC 10 km! 🥳 With the slogan "Run for Fun", you can only enjoy this event in the south of the island 😝.

But just because the race is organized by a 100% female club doesn't mean it's a 100% female race 🤓. Quite the opposite! The LRC 10K is open to everyone: beginners and experienced 🚀, men and women, able-bodied or in a situation of disability! 👨‍🦽 If you don't feel like starting alone 🏃‍➡️, you can form your team of runners and tackle the challenge as a team of 3! 👊 Plus, the race is friendly and even kids are part of it 🧒. A 1.9 km event, the LRC Kids Race, is reserved for them! 🤗 The 10 km of LRC is also the perfect time to discover Malta in a new way. Nature, traditional monuments, and urban constructions will pace your steps! 🏛️ The perfect blend to learn more about the village of Siggiewi ☝️.

And if 10 km aren't enough, you can always extend your weekend to wander through the ancient streets of the city 🏙️. Located on the southwestern plateau of Malta, a few kilometers from Imdina, the former Maltese capital 📍, and 10 kilometers from Valletta, the current capital, Siggiewi is a must-see, still preserved from tourism 🤩. After walking, you might get a bit hungry 🤤, so for a gourmet break, take a trip to Mdina, the silent city, about 20 minutes away 🚙, and enjoy Maltese specialties in one of its picturesque restaurants 🍽️.

You too, come run alongside women to support their inclusion in the world of running! 💪
