In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run a marathon 🤯. In 1990, the Ladies Running Club of Malta created its own 10 km race! 😎 It is now an annual event: in October, in Siġġiewi, we run the 10 km of the Ladies Running Club! 🥳 With the slogan "Run for Fun", you will only enjoy this event in the south of the island 😝.
But just because the race is organized by a 100% women's club doesn't mean it's a 100% women's race 🤓. On the contrary! The LRC 10K is open to everyone: beginners and advanced 🚀, men and women, able-bodied or with disabilities! 👨🦽 If you don't feel like starting alone 🏃➡️, you can assemble your runner team and face the challenge in a team of 3! 👊 Moreover, the race is friendly and even children are participating 🧒. A challenge of 1.9 km, the LRC Kids Race, is reserved for them! 🤗 The 10 km of the Ladies Running Club is also the perfect opportunity to discover Malta from a new perspective. Nature, traditional monuments and urban structures will punctuate your strides! 🏛️ The perfect mix to learn a little more about the village of Siggiewi ☝️.
And if 10 km are not enough, you can always extend your weekend to stroll through the ancient streets of the city 🏙️. Located on the southwestern plateau of Malta, a few kilometers from Imdina, the former capital of Malta 📍, and 10 kilometers from Valletta, the current capital, Siggiewi is a must-see, still preserved from tourism 🤩. After walking, you'll surely get a bit hungry 🤤, so for a delicious break, take a trip to Mdina, the silent city, located about 20 minutes away 🚙, and enjoy Maltese specialties in one of its picturesque restaurants 🍽️.
Come run alongside women to support their inclusion in the running world! 💪
A challenge of 1.9 km, the LRC Kids Race, is reserved for young people aged 5 to 15 years! 😜
