The year 2026 marks new challenges for the Aviron Bayonnais 🎯.
It's indeed the first time the Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Pro stadium will not see scrums for a weekend! 🤪 Yes, in May, Bayonne will swap its Top 14 🏉 rugby players for highly motivated runners 🏃. No need for cleats or mouthguards to tackle the kilometers of AVIRUN. You just need to bring your best running shoes and elbow your way to the starting line! 💪
The mythical rugby club is launching a sporting event centered around running: AVIRUN. This festive (and sporty! ☝️) event will offer various distances so everyone can enjoy according to their level 😉. 5 km, 10 km, half marathon : there's something for everyone! Young budding athletes will also have the chance to run inside the Stade Jean-Dauger, how cool is that? ✨ By the way, we crunched the numbers, a half marathon represents crossing approximately 210 rugby fields consecutively, quite the feat 😯. Whether you're pinning a bib for the first time or you're a seasoned road runner, you'll surely find the right fit🦶. Each course will allow you to discover, at your pace, the charming streets of Bayonne as well as the iconic monuments 😍. Bayonne is a city that loves to celebrate, unite, share, as it does with the traditional Bayonne festivals 🎉. And, beyond the runners, you can also count on the supporters to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a match at Jean-Dauger🏟️. Let's be honest, with the Bayonne crowd, there will certainly be as much singing, shouting, and enthusiasm as on a derby night against Biarritz 🤼♂️.
A few minutes away, you have the beautiful towns of Biarritz,Bidart, and Saint-Jean-de-Luz or even Hendaye! 👀 Beyond the landscapes, you'll discover a real way of life in these small parts of France 🇫🇷. Oh yes, don't forget to stop by the magnificent Halles de Bayonne😋. They house about twenty artisans and traders who highlight local products. Besides, when it comes to gastronomy, the local star is Bayonne ham! 🐷
Participate in the unique match of AVIRUN on the grounds of Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Pro: it's now! 😎
