If you dream of running an event that's more like a British adventure movie ๐ฌ, a bit like James Bond ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ, then head to Bath, a charming city nestled in England! ๐ฌ๐ง Without further ado, we introduce you to the Two Tunnels Railway Race ๐. Yes, you read that right, you're going to run in tunnels, a bit like playing Subway Surfer!
The event takes place several times a year and offers a range of formats: you can choose between 5 km, 10 km, Semi-Marathon, Marathon, and even a 50 km ultra for the truly passionate ๐ธ. This last one is also available in duo and as a 5-person relay (the loop is 10 km to be completed 5 times) ๐ช. There's also the Colourburst 500m, an explosion of colors perfect for families, children, or adults who donโt want to grow up ๐คช. The two tunnels you'll run through are: the Combe Down Tunnel, 1.6 km long, and the Devonshire Tunnel, shorter but just as stylish with its 408 meters! ๐โโ๏ธ Combe Down, in particular, is one of the longest cycling tunnels in the UK, transformed into an immersive corridor for runners โ๏ธ. But you'll soon realize that you didn't come just for these two tunnels (even if they're great), there are other sights on the courses, including the Tucking Mill Viaduct, the Sydney Gardens, or the Pulteney Bridge, that bridge that looks like a building, with its little shops integrated! ๐ค๏ธ Not to mention the moments when you'll follow the Kennet and Avon Canal, a bit of nature does good too! ๐ณ
But don't think this adventure is just about a simple race. Once your medal is around your neck, that's when Bath comes into play in all its splendor. Because this city is a gem ๐คฉ. You can discover The Circus, a circular square with Georgian buildings. Do you like museums? ๐ธ There's the Jane Austen Museum, to discover the universe of the most famous English novelist, and the Fashion Museum ๐, which traces the history of clothing from the 17th century to today. If you prefer nature, you can climb to the heights of Alexandra Park for a breathtaking view of the whole city ๐. And if you're the type to want to discover the somewhat alternative side of Bath, know that there are also many cafes where you can have "tea" English style! โ
So there you have it, whether you're coming to break your personal best, or just for a little weekend getaway โก, the Two Tunnels Railway Race in Bath is the perfect opportunity to experience a unique moment! ๐
The 50 km course is to be completed on the 10 km one, you will just need to loop 5 times! ๐ฅ
Since the route is a loop of 10 km to be completed 5 times, each runner will complete one loop ๐ฆพ.
For the marathon, it's a bit the same principle as the 50 km, except that it's on the half-marathon course that you will run! And since you wanted to double the distance, you will have to do the loop twice! ๐ฏ
The route of the half marathon goes, as the name of the race suggests, through two tunnels ๐. You will start by passing through the Devonshire Tunnel and then immediately follow with the Combe Down Tunnel. Once these stages are completed, you will pass over the Tucking Mill Viaduct and then the Dundas Aqueduct. You will then follow alongside the Kennet & Avon Canal, and pass by Cleveland House, Sydney Gardens, and Pulteney Bridge! ๐ฃ
The 10 km route will take you through the two eagerly awaited tunnels: the Devonshire Tunnel followed directly by the Combe Down Tunnel๐โโ๏ธ.
The 5 km route will take you only through the first tunnel which is the Devonshire Tunnel ๐ช.
Children will also have their own event: the "ColourBurst", a 500 m race ๐ค. The start will be at 9:20 am.
All race numbers will be collected on race day. Specific information will be published 4 weeks before the race at the following link: https://www.relishrunningraces.com/bath-two-tunnels-railway-races-event-information.php
