Hello and welcome to the Bijlmer Run! 🏃 For this new edition, you have a date for a half-marathon in the Netherlands in Amsterdam 🚴. It takes place within North Holland 🖼️, in the Southeast neighborhoods, very close to the center of the Dutch capital, where you are about to participate in a very recent event 👶, but already highly recognized ⭐. While the half-marathon of the Bijlmer Run is less known than its big brother, the Mizuno Half Marathon, it is gaining reputation and is now sold out every year! 🤩 This race has an authentic history since it was thought up and prepared by running enthusiasts 👟. The creators, Charita Zandgrond and Yoshi Green, also took the challenge of making the race attractive, while enhancing the image of the district of Bijlmermeer 🏙️. Mission accomplished! ✅ As it was too easy, the organization took on the new challenge of getting involved and combating sickle cell anemia 🧬 at their level. If this word is complicated, believe its cure is just as challenging. Hence, the race has partnered with the association Sikkelcelfonds and donates part of the bib fee to medical research purposes. Quick and kind, you'll really have a classy time 😎. Regarding the route, you will have the chance to discover authentic sites and the surroundings of Amsterdam 😌. It's the occasion to spend a great time in a festive atmosphere, regardless of the distance! 😁
Speaking of which! 🐺 3 road race distances of 5 km, 10 km and 21.098 km are available, along with a 10 km corporate team race, a 5 km walk and a small kids' course 🧒. There is something for everyone! 🤗 Like all races in the Netherlands, the routes are flat and fast 🏎️. Starting from Anton de Komplein, amidst a crazy atmosphere 🥳, you will tread a very diverse course. You have probably noticed that the race logo forms a windmill blade pattern with its 4 blades 🪽. More than a nod to the region, it is also the route of the Bijlmer Run half-marathon! Indeed, the circuit consists of 4 loops of 5 km, each offering different aspects of the neighborhood: Nelson Mandela Park 🌳, more concrete areas or cultural interest centers... 🎭 You won't have time to get bored on the way! 😅 Besides, there will be several cheering points along the route 👏. So you'll never lack motivation during your race, as the public will be on fire! 🔥 There will even be a party planned at Anton de Komplein with a music stage 🎶 and numerous food trucks for you to feast 😋.
As you have understood, the Bijlmer Run is a true local race 😍. Come discover the REAL Amsterdam, for a weekend and a race! 🥰 You can enjoy the calm of Bijlmermeer and explore its many bike lanes 🚲. If your legs are still in shape, you can even ride to the center of Amsterdam and enjoy the must-see activities: Anne Frank House 🏠, Van Gogh Museum 🎨 or the iconic Rijksmuseum 🖼️.
Just a heads-up, the Bijlmer Run is a record-breaking race ⏱️, so it's going to be fast. Very fast 😉.
If you've made it this far, it means you want to know more about the main distance of the event: the 21 km!
