Welcome to the Comacchio Half... Achoo, sorry, let's start over. Welcome to the Comacchio Half Marathon, this unique race at sunset ๐, nestled in the heart of one of the most enchanting Italian landscapes ๐.
Yes, get ready to join a much-anticipated spring sports event that will set the pace for your month of May ๐ท. The Comacchio Half Marathon is not just a simple run, it's a total immersion among the canals of the "Little Venice" in the Emilia-Romagna region, in the prestigious Po Delta Park ๐๏ธ. Here, nature and history run alongside you ๐ค. For a festive weekend, the city offers four distinct formats for every runner to find their happiness ๐. Of course, the main half marathon for competitors, a 10 km timed, a 10 km open format, and even the "Prolife Dogs & Run", a 1.5 km loop to share with your four-legged companion ๐พ.
The race profile is a true ode to diversity ๐. You will embark on a fast and flat course, with less than 2 meters of elevation gain, ideal for experiencing unforgettable emotions along a breathtaking and stunningly beautiful route! ๐ฒ What more could you ask for to break your personal record โฑ๏ธ. Plus, you'll do all this while crossing landscapes listed as UNESCO World Heritage ๐ซก. Between city and sea, the route will zigzag through the medieval historic center before taking you along the Porto Garibaldi canal ๐ง, where the golden light of the late afternoon turns each step into a postcard setting ๐ . The magic happens when you run along the Adriatic Sea and enter the famous Valli di Comacchio ๐. Did you know these lagoons are home to one of Europe's largest colonies of flamingos? ๐ฆฉ You will likely have the chance to see their pink ballet throughout your effort! You might believe you are in a dream or witness an almost unreal vision ๐คฉ.
For your run, the atmosphere promises to be friendly and authentic, enlivened by passages over the monumental bridges, like the iconic Trepponti ๐. This 17th-century architectural masterpiece, with its five majestic staircases, once served as a defensive gateway to the city โ๏ธ. Running here, you walk in the footsteps of history, where eel fishermen still offload their catch according to ancestral traditions ๐. Ah yes, this race is more than you think, you run, you admire, and you absorb a magnificent history ๐. It's like reading a historical book but in race form ๐. Enjoy an impeccable organization, enthusiastic local cheers ๐, a lively Expo Village, and a warm Italian welcome ๐ฎ๐น. Whether you're a seasoned runner aiming for a personal best or a passionate traveler seeking an authentic sports getaway ๐ช, Comacchio combines performance with an extra touch of soul ๐ญ.
After crossing the finish line, don't put away your running shoes too quickly! Be sure to find time to explore the seven Lidi ๐๏ธ. Turquoise sea, warm sand, seagull sounds... Everything you dreamed of during your run ๐ญ. If you need recovery, and it's more about indulging, nothing beats the local specialties ๐ค. With marinated or roasted eel as the undeniable star, treat yourself to a risotto Comacchio style or cappellacci with pumpkin ๐. With this little plan, life in Italy, or let's say "La Dolce Vita", will make you want to stay longer than planned, guaranteed! ๐ฎ๐น
Ciao a tutti, now's not the time to snooze, like comatose, but rather the time to wake up and go for a new medal, at the Comacchio Half Marathon! ๐ฅ Find your rhythm at sunset, and experience a half marathon as beautiful as it is friendly ๐.
For the half marathon it's 21.097 km that are planned! โ๏ธ
Alright, let's talk about the course, for the start and finish you will be in the heart of the city. Starting from the town, between km 4 and km 8, you will enjoy an amazing view from the dyke before crossing the ponte di ferro at km 8 ๐. To ensure a great start, the first refreshment stop will await you at km 4 ๐. The course then becomes more cultural: you will pass by the Santuario Santa Maria in Aula Regia at km 10 (where you'll find your second refreshment stop), then by the Basilica di San Cassiano at km 11.
You will continue with beautiful buildings in a succession of monuments with the ponte Pizzetti, the torre dellโorologio and the famous ponte degli sbirri at km 14 ๐. This last km will be, in passing, the strategic point for your third refreshment stop ๐ซ. For your final strides, you'll follow the canale valle molino with a last energy boost at km 19, for a memorable finish โจ.
Get ready for the 10 km (timed & fun). This route allows you to discover the essence of the magic of Comacchio in a shorter format โ๏ธ.
From the start, you can enjoy an exceptional view from the dyke between km 4 and km 8. It's the perfect spot to observe birds and lagoon landscapes ๐๏ธ. So you don't get too tired, at the halfway point, at km 5, a good refreshment will be waiting for you ๐. Continuing on the route, at km 8.3, you will follow the canal, before crossing the ponte di S. Pietro at km 8.7 ๐. After that, you'll dive back into the historic atmosphere of the city center for your final strides ๐โโ๏ธ.
For this very special course "Prolife Dogs & Run", you will commit to 1.5 km ! Without forgetting, of course, that if your best friend is there, he will most certainly want to accompany you ๐ถ.
This ultra-short loop is designed for shared enjoyment with your dog ๐. The course is flat and safe, ideal for trying out canicross or enjoying an active walk as a duo. There will even be experts on site to advise owners on the best practices of this discipline ๐ค. It's a fun and accessible experience in a festive atmosphere ๐ฅณ.
