Welcome to the Comac... Achoo, pardon, let's start over. Welcome to the Comacchio Half-Marathon, this race that mixes sports and breathtaking landscapes ๐.
Yes, get ready for a much-anticipated sporting event in the spring that will set the rhythm of your month of May ๐ท. The Comacchio Half-Marathon is not just a simple running event, itโs a total immersion in the "Little Venice" of Emilia-Romagna, at the heart of the prestigious Po Delta Park๐๏ธ. Over a festive weekend, the city offers four distinct formats so every runner can find their joy ๐. Naturally, the main event of the half-marathon for competitors, a 10 km timed race, a 10 km open to all, and even a "Prolife Dogs & Run", a 1.5 km loop to share with your four-legged friend ๐พ.
The race profile is a true ode to diversity ๐. You'll take off on a fast and flat course, with less than 2 m of elevation! ๐ฒ We couldn't ask for more to help you break your personal record โฑ๏ธ. And you're achieving this while traversing landscapes classified as UNESCO World Heritage๐ซก. Between city and sea, the route will take you zigzagging through the medieval historic center before guiding you along the Porto Garibaldi canal๐ง. The magic occurs as you run along the Adriatic Sea and enter the famous Valli di Comacchio๐. Did you know these lagoons host one of Europe's largest colonies of pink flamingos? ๐ฆฉYou'll likely catch their pink ballet during your effort! You'll feel as if you're in a dream or witnessing something almost unreal ๐คฉ.
For your run, the atmosphere promises to be friendly and authentic, punctuated by passages over monumental bridges, like the iconic Trepponti๐. This 17th-century architectural masterpiece, with its five majestic stairways, once served as a defensive gateway to the city โ๏ธ. As you run here, you walk in the footsteps of history, where eel fishermen still unload their catch following ancestral traditions ๐. Ah yes, this race is more than you think, you run, admire, and immerse yourself in a magnificent history ๐. It's a bit like a history book, but in running form ๐.
After crossing the finish line, don't put away your sneakers too quickly! Be sure to leave time to explore the seven Lidos๐๏ธ. Turquoise sea, warm sand, the sound of seagullsโฆ Basically, everything you dreamed of during your race ๐ญ. If you need to recover and it's your sweet tooth leading you, nothing beats the local specialties ๐ค. With eel marinated or roasted as the undisputed star, let yourself be tempted by a Comacchio-style risotto or cappellacci with pumpkin ๐. With this little program, life in Italy, or let's say "La Dolce Vita", will make you want to stay longer than planned, that's for sure! ๐ฎ๐น
Ciao a tutti, it's time to wake up and set out to conquer a new medal, at the Comacchio Half-Marathon! ๐ฅ
For the half-marathon it's 21,097 km that are planned. Yes, it is 0.002 km longer than usual! ๐ฒ Don't worry, you should manage...
Alright, let's talk about the route, for the start and finish you will be in the heart of the city. Starting from the city, between km 4 and km 8, you will enjoy a breathtaking view from the dyke before crossing the ponte di ferro at km 8 ๐. To ensure a perfect start, the first refreshment will await you at km 4 ๐. The route then becomes more cultural: you pass in front of the Santuario Santa Maria in Aula Regia at km 10 (where you will find your second refreshment), then in front of the Basilica di San Cassiano at km 11.
You continue with beautiful buildings and a series of monuments with the ponte Pizzetti, the torre dellโorologio and the famous ponte degli sbirri at km 14 ๐. This last km will be the strategic point for your third refreshment ๐ซ. For your final strides, you will follow the canale valle molino with a final energy boost at km 19, for a memorable finish โจ.
Introducing the 10 km (timed & fun). This route allows you to discover the essence of the magic of Comacchio in a shorter format โ๏ธ.
Right from the start, you enjoy an exceptional view from the dyke between km 4 and km 8. It's the ideal spot to observe birds and lagoon landscapes ๐๏ธ. To keep you from getting tired, midway, at km 5, a good refreshment will be waiting for you ๐. We continue on the route, at km 8.3, you will follow the canal before crossing the ponte di S. Pietro at km 8.7 ๐. After that, you'll dive back into the historical atmosphere of the city center for your final strides ๐โโ๏ธ.
For this very special course "Prolife Dogs & Run", you will commit to 1.5 km ! Of course, don't forget that if your best friend is there, they'll certainly want to accompany you ๐ถ.
This ultra-short loop is designed for shared enjoyment with your dog ๐. The course is flat and safe, ideal for beginners in canicross or for enjoying an active walk as a duo. There will even be experts on-site to advise owners on best practices for this discipline ๐ค. It's a fun and accessible experience in a festive atmosphere ๐ฅณ.
