Head to Viroflay, in its state forest, for the Cross de la Sablière! 🌳 And not just any edition: the race is blowing out 50 candles! 🎂 To celebrate this half-century of mud and memories, a beautiful 50th-anniversary medal awaits you at the finish line 🏅. Here, there’s no swimming or transitions like at the Aquathlon des Bertisettes ❌. This time, this small town in the Yvelines hosts a cross-country race right in the heart of the Île-de-France. Get your neck gaiters, headbands and gloves ready, because this race takes place in January ❄️.

Nope! You won’t be running on sand, but on soil. The “Sablière” refers to a place in the Meudon state forest that was once exploited for its fine sand, used in the construction of Versailles 🤴. The event takes place in the Meudon state forest, a simply splendid green haven 🌱. Whether you’re a young runner, a trail enthusiast, or a beginner, you’ll find the perfect fit 🥾. This event offers 6.2 km (short cross) and 11.1 km (long cross) courses, as well as distances adapted for children (1, 1.5 and 2.8 km). If you want to try to break the long-cross record, know that it was won by Youssef Mekdafou, European Cross Country champion... so good luck! 😅 You’ll get a taste of the raw beauty of the forest of Viroflay, with climbs that wake up your thighs and descents where you let gravity carry you (and maybe a bit of the moment’s madness too 😅). In any case, there’s no need to be a pro! You just have to love pushing yourself to enjoy this friendly, sporty atmosphere ⚡️. You can sign up with your eyes closed, because this cross has existed since 1977 and benefits from a well-oiled organization 🫡.

Once the medal is hung up and your legs are well and truly rinsed, it’s time for some comfort 😌. If you want to extend the day, Versailles and its legendary palace are only a few minutes away. And if you want to combine sport and family adventure, the Thoiry Zoological Park opens its doors to you: lions, giraffes and other curious furred and feathered friends await 🐾.
