Head to Viroflay, in its national forest, for the Cross de la Sablière! 🌳 Here, no swimming or transitions like in the Aquathlon des Bertisettes ❌. This time, this small municipality in the Yvelines hosts a cross in the heart of Île-de-France. Prepare your neck warmers, headbands, and gloves, as this race takes place in February ❄️.
No, you won't be running on sand, but on earth. The "Sablière" refers to a place in the Meudon national forest that was exploited for its fine sand used for the construction of Versailles 🤴. The event takes place in the Meudon national forest, a breathtaking green setting 🌱. Whether you're a young runner, a trail enthusiast, or a beginner, you'll find your fit 🥾. This event offers routes of 6 km (short cross) and 11 km (long cross), as well as distances suitable for children (1, 1.5, and 2.8 km). If you want to try and beat the long cross record, know that it was won by Youssef Mekdafou, European Cross Country champion... so good luck! 😅 You'll experience the raw beauty of the forest of Viroflay, with its climbs that awaken your thighs and descents where you let gravity (and a bit of the moment's madness 😅) carry you. Anyway, no need to be a pro! Just love pushing your limits to enjoy this friendly and sporty atmosphere⚡️. You can register with confidence, as this cross has been around for a forty years and boasts a well-honed organization 🫡.
Once the medal is hung and your legs are nice and washed out, it's time for comfort 😌. If you want to extend the day, Versailles and its legendary castle are only a few minutes away. And if you want to combine sport and family adventure, the Thoiry Zoo opens its doors: lions, giraffes, and other curious furry and feathered creatures await you there 🐾. More of a culture team? Paris is right next door, with its plethora of historical monuments for you to visit 🤪. Meanwhile, isn't February the perfect month to discover museums? 🔎 You can warm up at the Musée d'Orsay, the Petit Palais, or even the Grévin Museum for a touch of fun 🎭.
So, ready for a cross performance? 🙃
