Want one served up in Ensérune? 🍻
Ready to heat up your trainers on ancestral lands? 🦴 We’ll be waiting for you in Colombiers, in the Hérault, right in the heart of Occitanie, for a total immersion in the archaeological site of Ensérune 🏛️. Ensé'Run takes place in May 📆 and offers a full menu with 6 events in total ✋, including an hike not timed over 9 km or 17 km and a kids' race (ages 13/15) over 4.5 km 🧒. You can choose between varied routes: "L'Oppidum" of 23 km and 330 mD+, "L'Ensérune" of 17 km and 230 mD+, or "La Malpas" of 9 km and 100 mD+.
You’ll tread the trails of the archaeological site of the Oppidum d'Ensérune, a national monument overlooking the Étang de Montady and offering you an exceptional panorama of this unusual place 🤩. Terrain-wise, expect real garrigue 🌾: rocks, dry roots, and a few asphalt sections so you can let your speed do the talking ☀️. You’ll also enjoy the banks of the Canal du Midi and the legendary Via Domitia! 🪨 You’ll arrive in style at the Ensé'Run village located in the Amphitheatre area, right next to the port of Colombiers 🚤. The atmosphere is friendly 🎉, with strategic aid stations to help you avoid overheating 🥤. You’ll often find local bands 🎶 to set the rhythm for your strides and a festive post-race where you debrief your times around a moment of sharing. It’s a human-sized event, limited to 700 bibs to preserve the quality of the welcome 🤗.
To extend your stay, the region is an exceptional playground 😇. We recommend an unusual visit to the Tunnel du Malpas, a true technical feat on the Canal du Midi 💦. If you prefer peace and quiet, a stroll along the quays of the port of Colombiers or an exploration of the Roman ruins will immerse you in local history 🏺. Also enjoy southern gastronomy: tielle, bougnette, stuffed squid, oreillette... 🍽️ You won’t be short of treats 🤪.
In short, a race where you finish with a bit of dust on your calves but a head full of history! 🤓
A word from the organizer:
"Ensé’Run isn’t just a race. It’s an experience. Running through the heart of Colombiers’ landscapes, alongside the Canal du Midi, crossing places steeped in history and discovering the Oppidum d’Ensérune in a different way… From 9 to 23 km, everyone has their own challenge, their own pace, but the same desire: to have fun and share a unique moment. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a nature lover, or simply looking for a new challenge, Ensé’Run invites you to experience a different kind of race—between sport, heritage, scenery and conviviality. On May 23, 2027, come run Ensé’Run. Come live the experience."
Starting from the Port of Colombiers 🚤, you’ll follow a stretch of the Canal du Midi before climbing to the top of the Oppidum of Ensérune , which will give you a viewpoint over the Étang de Montady and the archaeological site 🪨. You’ll head back down across the plains to Poilhes and will have to tackle one last climb 📈 before reaching the legendary Via Domitia along the canal 💦.
A well-balanced format that combines speed on the flat stretches along the Canal du Midi 💦 and power on the climbs of the Oppidum of Ensérun 🏛️. You'll even climb up to the viewpoint over the Montady pond. The route offers a perfect snapshot of the local heritage without the fatigue of the long format 🏃.
Ideal for discovering the sport or getting in a session in nature 🍃. The route is quick but keeps that little elevation gain that makes all the difference 📈, especially when passing near the famous Malpas Tunnel and up to the viewpoint over the Pond 😎.
The young runners will set off from the Port of Colombiers to follow alongside the Canal du Midi on the legendary Via Domitia 💦 up to the Malpas Tunnel, then take the other bank to come back and cross the finish line at the port 🚤.
