Ladies and gentlemen, we are beginning our descent into Taipei, the fascinating capital of Taiwan ๐๏ธ. Please fasten your seatbelts, return your seats to the upright position, stow your trays... and ready your heart to fall in love with the island of a thousand flavors ๐. We hope you have enjoyed your flight with our EVA AIR and wish you good luck for your marathon ๐ฌ.
That's probably what you'll hear if you sign up for the EVA Air Marathon ๐คฉ. In October, buckle up, pin your race bib, and get ready for a marathon-class flight through the bustling streets, hidden temples, and urban landscapes of this state of 168 islands. Whether you're up for a long-distance marathon, a mid-distance flight, or a quick sprint ๐, everyone embarks on the same level here ๐ซถ. You have the choice between 3, 10, 21 or 42 km. EVA Air โ a 5-star airline โญ๏ธ โ is not only the official sponsor of the race, but also the first witness to your achievement, with the finish line almost beneath the wings of one of their planes, near Songshan Airport ๐ฌ. The route? It's grand tourism with an aerodynamic twist ๐จ. You'll run alongside the Keelung River like a tranquil dragon ๐, pass through Yingfeng Riverside Park, go over the Huandong Viaduct, and cross the Nanhu Bridge ๐. It's smooth, fluid, almost zen-like ๐ง. The course is flat with a few turns, one or two inclines to remind you that yes, you are indeed in subtropical Asia, but overall, it's an easy-going road ๐. We hope you'll be ready to wake up โฐ, as you'll start at the first light of dawn ๐ , brushed by a ma-gni-ficent sunrise (if the weather is on your side) โ๏ธ. But let's not kid ourselves, running in a city as dynamic as Taipei makes waking up easy ๐. If running a marathon or a half isn't your thing, you can always opt for the 3 or 10 km for a snapshot of the capital ๐.
But this event is also a round-trip ticket for total immersion in Taiwanese culture โฉ๏ธ. In terms of cultural baggage ๐งณ, this city doesn't joke around: take a detour to Yilan County to taste a Kavalan whisky or admire the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial. You can also take a trip up the Taipei 101 tower, which stands at 508m, holding the record for the tallest building in the world before the Burj Khalifa was built. And most importantly... the food ๐ฅ. After crossing the finish line, you can fly to the Raohe Night Market ๐ for a gourmet layover with skewers, dumplings, and stinky tofu (it's optional, but consider it a rite of passage ๐). And if your calves survive the race, they'll appreciate the Wulai Hot Springs, perfect for a well-deserved muscle recovery. As you've gathered, this journey doesn't end at the finish line โ. The EVA Air Marathon is a guaranteed ticket to a place where sports, tourism, and local hospitality meet at 10,000 feet above the ordinary ๐๏ธ.
So, are you ready to pound the pavement of the runway on the streets of Taipei? โ๏ธ
Consume alcohol responsibly โ ๏ธ.
The race begins on Boulevard Ketagalan, near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You'll run through the streets for 7.5 km before reaching the city's waterfront. You'll pass along the nearby docks and continue until the 12th km. Nearly the entire marathon is along the water. At the 18th km, you'll cross over Nanhu Bridge๐ to reach the opposite shore and continue on the Nanhu Right Bank Riverside Park๐ดโโ๏ธ cycling path. You'll ascend the ramp on the right bank of MacArthur Bridge 1 and then descend the ramp on the left bank of the MacArthur Bridge 1. You'll then continue on the Guanshan Left Bank Riverside Park cycling path and the Yingfeng Left Bank Riverside Park cycling path.
You'll finish by running under the Dazhi Bridge to the finish line! ๐โโ๏ธ
