Running in the mountains of Savoie 🐐, right in the heart of nature 🌿, under a beautiful summer sun ☀️, sounds awesome, right? 😎 Well, that's exactly what the Grand Bec Alpine Trails 😍 offer you. It's in Champagny-en-Vanoise 📍, in mid-August, that the 38th edition of this event will take place 🥳. This small town, located at the gates of the Vanoise National Park 🏞️, is found at 1,250 meters above sea level 🤠. It is particularly known for its ski area of La Plagne in winter ⛷️, but rest assured, there will be no snow ❄️, just greenery as far as the eye can see! 👀 The trail runners setting off on the Savoyard paths will be able to discover magnificent places with breathtaking views 💨, particularly on the impressive Grand Bec 🐦⬛. The event offers participants four distances, including a hiking format. The trails of this trail nonetheless require some experience and good training 🏋️. Grand Bec Alpine Trails even allow you to earn UTMB index points! 🫵
Do you feel that sweet smell of greenery, that calm in the middle of the mountains? ⛰️ What a pleasure it is to run in such settings 🥰. The event offers you three races to taste the joy of running and one to enjoy the pleasure of hiking! 🫶 We will start by presenting the little gem: the "Grand Bec Hike" ! ☺️ On the menu, 8 km and 550 mD+ to admire the landscapes of the Vanoise while taking your time ⌛. We've even heard that there will be very gourmet refreshments on the way 🍽️. As for running, the smallest distance is the "Trail du Mont de la Guerre" with 16 km and 1,050 mD+ 🪖. Suffice it to say that your legs might really heat up with all this elevation gain 🔥, no joke 🫡. The advantage of running in nature is that it gives beautiful gifts and some sections of this trail offer magnificent views of Champagny-en-Vanoise 📸. Then there is the "Trail de la Vélière" with 30 km and 2,000 mD+ 🤓. In this race, participants will go up to 2,500 meters above sea level! 😶🌫️ Finally, the last race, the "Trail de Vallaisonay", runners will race for 42 km and 3,010 mD+ 🥶. Suffice to say, there is a lot of elevation for this kind of distance, so you'll need to be well trained to finish 🥇. In this trail, you will discover forest trails as well as technical paths that will bring you a little closer to the stars 🤩, at 2,800 meters above sea level 🌠. Well, if you start really seeing stars, that's not normal, but on such a challenge, it can happen 🤕. We mainly hope that you'll be dazzled while running on the ridges 🌄, with the Grand Bec as a backdrop and the Vanoise National Park nearby 🙏.
In Savoie, there's plenty of choices, and not just on the trails... 😁 After the race, there are lots of things to do, whether you want to relax 🧘, fill your belly 😋, or, if you're crazy, even do more sports, for example 🤯. But seriously, if you're more in the mood for a calm and informative moment 👨🎓, you can visit the Espace Glacialis, which will allow you to learn more about glacier life! 🧊 To recharge, the town of Champagny-en-Vanoise also offers a swimming pool with a spa area 💆, the perfect combo to rest your legs 🦵. And to finish, even though there are hundreds of activities, what could be better than grabbing a bite? 🥄 Savoie has quite an enticing list in terms of culinary specialties... 👩🍳 Fondue, raclette, tartiflette... 🫕 We've seen worse! 😜 Grand Bec Alpine Trails is the perfect place to push yourself 🦸, but also to spend time with your loved ones, in the heart of the Savoyard nature that will return what you give it... 🧡
Come on, the Savoie is waiting for you! 🧀
Word from the organizer:
"The Grand Bec Alpine Trails are the races that will make you love the Vanoise. Lovers of elevation gain and wonderful landscapes are welcome in Champagny-en-Vanoise to play with the Vanoise National Park."
"The Trail of the Vallaisonnay" is somewhat the giant of this event! 🥳 It's the longest distance, and let me tell you that 3,019 mD+ over 41.45 km is heavy duty! 🏋️ Participants will start from the charming little town of Champagny-en-Vanoise 🤭. During their journey 🏃➡️, the runners will have breathtaking views of the Grand Bec and the surrounding mountains 🏔️. They will discover all the features of the trail, ranging from simple forest paths to technical trails at over 2,800 meters altitude, around the 20th kilometer 😉. The last surprise 🎁 will be around the 30th kilometer with one last little bump to test your legs! After that, there will be about ten kilometers (downhill) left for participants to muster their final strength to the finish line and be crowned finisher 🏁.
Starting point from Champagny-en-Vanoise! 🗺️ It's the beginning of a beautiful adventure of 30 km on the most beautiful Savoyard trails 🧀. Participants will notably discover the Pointe de la Vélière which will make them sweat a little 🥵, but will especially offer them a unique viewpoint of the surroundings 😍. The highest point of the race will be reached around km 20, with runners climbing up to 2,550 meters in altitude 🌈. From that point, there are 10 km left with downhill stretches, but be cautious as there may be technical parts 🤠. A little more energy to cross the finish line and you will finally be crowned a finisher of this trail, congratulations to you! 🏆
"The Trail of the War Mountain" ⚔️, is the little baby of the event: a race of 15.8 km and 1,033 mD+ 🔝. A quite impressive baby! 🤔 Here, the relatively short distance means nothing, as the elevation gain for this type of course is particularly demanding 🫡. You'll need to have strong legs! 🔥 The format is quite simple: a progressive climb up to the 9th kilometer, then a descent to the finish line, in the heart of Champagny-en-Vanoise 🗺️.
The organization also considered those who want to take their time. A hike of 7.8 km and 531 mD+ allows you to admire the most beautiful landscapes of the Vanoise as well as the six hamlets of Champagny-en-Vanoise 🥰. It's the perfect way to discover the mountains 🏔️.
