Salagou-tte of water that makes the lake overflow! 💦
Hop on your two-wheeler, the roads and trails of Hérault are yours! 😉To become the hero of the GravelMan Series Salagou, you’ll need to block off your second weekend of April 📆. Yes, yes—your whole weekend; you’ll quickly see why 🤫. But first, let us whet your appetite by setting the scene: red lands and volcanic hills 🌋, sunshine and ideal temperatures 🌞, the sea and lakes galore, and above all lots of kilometers and elevation gain 😝. The reward will be all the sweeter: Lake Salagou and its turquoise-blue reflections 😎, a true oasis in the middle of planet Mars 🔴.
GravelMan Series takes you on quite an adventure where speed, technique and contemplation will all be part of the experience... But how many kilometers? 5 events are offered, to be ridden on a road bike or on a gravel (man) bike: 60 km and 1,000 mD+, 120 km and 2,000 mD+, 200 km and 2,500 mD+, 350 km and 4,500 mD+ and finally the weekend’s big boss: 500 km and 6,500 mD+. Now you’re starting to see why we told you to reserve your two days 😅. The biggest events will take you well over 24 hours! So you’ll need to prepare your epic well because you’re heading out self-supported: just you and your bike 🚲. On your journey—whether short or long, strewn with rocks or covered in asphalt—you’ll cross desert-like plateaus 🏜️, climb the slopes of the Guilhaumard plateau and dive into the valleys that open onto the Cévennes to the north and the Mediterranean to the south 🤩. The rally point will be the same for everyone: the Étang de Thau, perfect for racing flamingos from the starting gun 🤪.
Now that you’ve mastered the art of gravel (man) 🤓, why not get some use out of your legs again (slightly sore 🦵) to explore other activities? 🔍 Before leaving the Étang de Thau, stop by for some Thau fuel! 🍽️ And not just any—we’re talking about the famous Étang de Thau oyster, known for its slight hazelnut taste; it’ll replenish your salt losses! 🧂 Once you’re re-energized, take the opportunity to soak up the sun by the sea and take a nap on the beach 🏖️—well deserved! If you still feel up for sightseeing, take the car (or the bike 😬) and head for Castelnau-de-Guers 🏰. Not far away, you’ll also find the city of Montpellier 📍, rich in history! 🤗
Hands on the bars, ready, pedal! The GravelMan Series Salagou is waiting for your next adventure 💪.
