The event in a few words

Let's be honest: if James Bond had to swap his Martini 🍸 for a beer after a high-speed chase in the Province of Antwerp, this is where he'd come 🕵️.

The Great Breweries Marathon is the Inception of running: an immersion in a brewery 🍻, within another brewery, in the heart of Flanders. Starting from Puurs-Sint-Amands, the event offers you five formats: marathon, 25 km, and 17 km, the latter two being doable by walking! 🚶 This early May day promises to be under the sign of malt 🌾 and sunshine 🌞. But no drinks on the terrace, you'll have to lace up your sneakers 👟 and cover the kilometers before you can enjoy the tasting once you cross the finish line! 🏁

The route is more rolling than a barrel rolling downhill 🛢️, which is perfect for your joints 😏. We're leaving the beaten path to enter the inner sanctum: you will tread the ground of the Duvel Moortgat brewery. For a bit of history, "Duvel" means "devil" in local dialect 😈. It is said that a neighbor, impressed by the potency of the brew, exclaimed: "It's a real devil!" That's exactly what your legs will be saying when you speed up in front of the giant vats 😬. The ambiance? It's a joyful mix between a Tour de France stage and a village festival that lasted a little too long 🤪. With over 5,000 participants, you're far from the loneliness of the long-distance runner. Here, we run for the heritage, for the smell of hops tickling your nostrils and for the refreshments that are out of the ordinary 😎. You won't encounter any traffic jams on the course (apart from those from the bottles 😝), but you might have some after crossing the finish line, when everyone rushes to grab their precious tasting pack 😋.

If you want to make a detour, make a jump to the fort of Breendonk. It's rich with history and makes you realize that your muscle aches are just a minor detail 😅. To impress at the next dinner 🍽️, don't forget to try the Malines Asparagus. It's local, it's seasonal, and it's a change from the usual pre-race pasta dish 🥗.

Brew if you can! 🤯 The Great Breweries Marathon awaits its best brewers runners to honor the Flemish land 🍺.

4 reasons to join this race

The exclusive passage through the breweries 🍻
Forget dusty museums. Here, you enter the engine room of Duvel, Bosteels, and Palm. Running between the bottling lines is a bit like visiting Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but with hops instead of sugar. It's visual, it's industrial, it's mythical 🏭.
The finisher's loot 😜
In most races, you're given a banana and an oversized t-shirt. Here, the reward has a malt flavor. Every "finisher" leaves with an exclusive box containing the finest from the partner breweries. It's the perfect trophy to discuss your performance and feelings with your close ones once home, extending the celebration well after crossing the finish line 🎁.
A pilgrimage for epicureans 🤓
The region is the birthplace of Duvel, a beer that revolutionized the industry with its bottle refermentation. Participating in this event is about treading the ground of an area of innovation that exports its expertise to over 60 countries. A true local curiosity to discover in sneakers to understand why Belgian beer culture is listed by UNESCO 📜.
The fervor of Flemish supporters 👏https://gemini.google.com/app/85b285682e8f948e
The reception in the villages crossed is authentic and warm. The locals mobilize en masse to encourage the participants, turning every kilometer into a moment of sharing. The Flemish have this knack for encouraging you with a saving sense of humor, so don't be surprised if you're offered a little beer at kilometer 30 instead of an energy gel 😂. This positive energy is the best fuel to forget fatigue and keep smiling all the way 😁.
