Pull on your best bib shorts, adjust your helmet, and get ready to seriously set your legs on fire at an event that’s going to shake up your cyclist habits 🚴.
In September, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region hosts a road-cycling monument in the Haute-Savoie department! 📍 It’s in the heart of Mont-Blanc country, more precisely in the town of Sallanches, that the peloton gathers for the first edition of the Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc Classic 😎. Forget those easy little Sunday-morning flat spins. Here, we’re talking relief, slopes that challenge you, and high-mountain spectacle 🤩. This cyclosportive isn’t like the others: it’s a full-scale real-life dress rehearsal, since you’ll be riding on the official tracks of the future 2027 UCI World Championships! 🏆 Enough to feel like a pro rider for a day, nose to the bars and eyes fixed on the snowy peaks 🤓.
For this grand mass of cycling 🚲, two major formats are available for lovers of rolling roads 📈. For fans of big challenges and thrill-seeking athletes, the "Challenge" route offers a solid 105 km course with no less than 2,500 mD+! 😅 And if you’ve got the profile of a true mountain rider with legs of steel, the "Endurance" format is waiting for you with its 165 km of tarmac and a monstrous total of 4,000 mD+. There’s no shortage of stories on these roads, especially thanks to Bernard Hinault, the event’s official patron! The "Badger" himself validates this unique playground—and we all know how little this champion messes around when the road tilts upward ☝️. The scenery is simply wild and grand, blending demanding Alpine passes and phenomenal straight lines facing the roof of Europe ⬆️.
After you cross the finish line and savor the end of your effort, no way you’re heading straight home without celebrating your achievement 🎉. The race village in Sallanches promises a warm and festive atmosphere, typical of major gatherings of enthusiasts 💪. It’s the perfect moment to raise a glass with your road buddies and replay the day, climb by climb, while enjoying a well-deserved local specialty 😋. If your legs are still willing to move a little, go unwind on an easy stroll around the lakes of Passy facing the surrounding peaks ⛰️. Watching the sunset set the massifs ablaze is a magical experience everyone agrees on 🌄. Recovery takes on a whole new dimension here!
Heat up the rubber—it’s going to fly down the slopes! 📉
Starting from Sallanches, you will head toward Cluses and complete your first climb: the Col de la Colombière at 1,613 meters above sea level. You will make your way to Le Grand Bornand and the Plateau des Glières at 1,435 meters above sea level before reaching Nâves-Parmelan at km 85. You will descend to Thônes, passing the symbolic 100 km mark, then climb back up to La Clusaz and the Col des Aravis (1,486 m). All that will be left is to take a detour via Megève and climb the Côte de Domancy, and you’ll be able to proudly raise your arms under the finish arch! 🏁
