Kathmandu Marathon

The event in a few words

Fancy running on the roof of the world? โ˜๏ธ Among pagodas, ancient palaces ๐Ÿฏ and Himalayan peaks in the background ๐Ÿ—ป, the Kathmandu Marathon invites you to pace through the heart of Nepal ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต. It's in the month of November, at the dawn of the Nepalese winter โ„๏ธ and white peaks, that one of the most beautiful countries in the world welcomes you to run its most iconic marathon! ๐ŸŒŸ Specifically in Satdobato, the event invites nearly 30,000 runners from 20 different nations every year! A moment of sport and sharing, as cosmopolitan as it gets! ๐Ÿ’™ But more than just the marathon, you also have the choice to run a half, a 10 km, 5 km and a 3 km solo or as a team ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Created in the early 2000s by a running enthusiast and ultra-marathon, this race has real added value in the eyes of the locals ๐Ÿ˜. It promotes something deeper than performance and emphasizes this: a sound mind in a sound body ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Yes, hence the slogan "Build Healthy lifestyle" ๐Ÿค“, the Nepalese are straightforward! There, the mind is a temple... ๐Ÿซถ Between Hindu and Buddhist influences, the body is cherished, one is spiritually at peace, and what better than running to clear your mind and maintain good physical condition? ๐Ÿ˜ A mantra that gathers more and more wellness enthusiasts at the gates of the Himalayas! ๐Ÿคฉ

After running between the Durbar Square, the Boudhanath Stupa, the Tripureshwor to the Dasarath Rangashala, it's time to take off your carbon shoes ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ and go exploring the surroundings ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธโ€โžก๏ธ. Your body will have given its all and deserves more than just a nap ๐Ÿ˜ด. Head to an Ayurvedic spa, where a Nepalese steam bath (the Janzu) ๐Ÿง–โ€โ™‚๏ธ and a yoga session await you ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ, in the districts of Thamel or Patan. Among the sacred sites present and listed by UNESCO, we recommend the Swayambhunath (the monkey temple) ๐Ÿฆง with its incredible view over the valley ๐Ÿ˜. You can also take the opportunity to shop! There are many artisan shops brimming with musical instruments ๐ŸŽป, incense ๐Ÿชท, prayer flags ๐Ÿณ๏ธ, etc. Perfect for collecting souvenirs and bringing them home โค๏ธ. End your sports adventure by indulging in momos ๐ŸฅŸ and dhal bat ๐Ÿ›. A real champions' recovery! ๐Ÿ’ช

So, are you convinced to embark on a journey to the land where worlds meet? โœจ

4 reasons to join this race

A physical and deeply spiritual experience ๐Ÿ’›
It's a race where you cover the ground as much with your heart as with your legs ๐Ÿฆต. The atmosphere, the chants, the incense, the prayer flags in the wind... everything invites you to refocus on yourself. It is a challenge, yes, but also a meditation in motion ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธโ€โžก๏ธ.
The Himalayas as a backdrop ๐Ÿ‘€
In Kathmandu, the horizon will be your biggest post-race reward ๐Ÿ…. Even though the race remains urban, the majesty of the Himalayas is everywhere ๐Ÿคฉ. At every corner, between mist and rooftops, a peak always stands out. Running here means being at the foot of the world's roof with guaranteed thrills at every stride ๐Ÿ’จ.
The culture ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต
Travel to the other side of the world ๐Ÿ›ซ, run through centuries of culture: Buddhist stupas, Hindu temples, royal squares listed by UNESCO โญ๏ธ. The love of running ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ
