Kathmandu Marathon
Fancy running on the roof of the world? โ๏ธ Among pagodas, ancient palaces ๐ฏ and Himalayan peaks in the background ๐ป, the Kathmandu Marathon invites you to pace through the heart of Nepal ๐ณ๐ต. It's in the month of November, at the dawn of the Nepalese winter โ๏ธ and white peaks, that one of the most beautiful countries in the world welcomes you to run its most iconic marathon! ๐ Specifically in Satdobato, the event invites nearly 30,000 runners from 20 different nations every year! A moment of sport and sharing, as cosmopolitan as it gets! ๐ But more than just the marathon, you also have the choice to run a half, a 10 km, 5 km and a 3 km solo or as a team ๐.
Created in the early 2000s by a running enthusiast and ultra-marathon, this race has real added value in the eyes of the locals ๐. It promotes something deeper than performance and emphasizes this: a sound mind in a sound body ๐งโโ๏ธ. Yes, hence the slogan "Build Healthy lifestyle" ๐ค, the Nepalese are straightforward! There, the mind is a temple... ๐ซถ Between Hindu and Buddhist influences, the body is cherished, one is spiritually at peace, and what better than running to clear your mind and maintain good physical condition? ๐ A mantra that gathers more and more wellness enthusiasts at the gates of the Himalayas! ๐คฉ
After running between the Durbar Square, the Boudhanath Stupa, the Tripureshwor to the Dasarath Rangashala, it's time to take off your carbon shoes ๐ and go exploring the surroundings ๐ถโโ๏ธโโก๏ธ. Your body will have given its all and deserves more than just a nap ๐ด. Head to an Ayurvedic spa, where a Nepalese steam bath (the Janzu) ๐งโโ๏ธ and a yoga session await you ๐งโโ๏ธ, in the districts of Thamel or Patan. Among the sacred sites present and listed by UNESCO, we recommend the Swayambhunath (the monkey temple) ๐ฆง with its incredible view over the valley ๐. You can also take the opportunity to shop! There are many artisan shops brimming with musical instruments ๐ป, incense ๐ชท, prayer flags ๐ณ๏ธ, etc. Perfect for collecting souvenirs and bringing them home โค๏ธ. End your sports adventure by indulging in momos ๐ฅ and dhal bat ๐. A real champions' recovery! ๐ช
