At 7am, while the rest of Malta is still enjoying its coffee, you’re already lacing up your running shoes ☀️. On the second Sunday of October, the "Ladies Running Club 10K" meets you at the gates of Siġġiewi, one of the oldest villages on the island, tucked into the rural, rocky south of the archipelago. At this time of year, the Mediterranean climate is still generous: clear blue skies, a sea that’s still warm, and temperatures that rise quickly as soon as the sun comes out 🌡️. Hence this clever dawn start, which lets you run your 10 km before the heat sets in.
The route starts on Triq il-Mitjar ta' San Niklaw and loops its ten kilometres along the country roads that encircle Siġġiewi 🏃. A rolling profile, scenery of dry-stone walls and ochre fields: nothing technical, everything geared for pace. A water station awaits you around halfway, and kilometre markers line the route until you return to the finish line. Do be careful though ⚠️: the road is not fully closed to traffic, so stick to the pavements when you can and choose caution over a handful of seconds. And for those with delicate hearts and lungs—or who are simply built to keep it easy—a 10 km walk is also on the programme! 🚶
Behind the name is a real club story: the event is run by the Ladies Running Club and is open to everyone, runners of all genders, from age 15 🏅. The team competition for three adds a bit of spice, as do the many age categories awarded all the way up to veterans aged 75+. Every finisher goes home with a medal, and the Lina Borg Costanzi prize honours the first club member to cross the line 🏁.
Once the stopwatch stops, the island turns into a playground. Head for the capital, Valletta and its bastions, or Mdina the Silent City, or the megalithic temples among the oldest in the world. 🏛️ At the table, fenkata, the national rabbit stew, can be enjoyed guilt-free after the effort, between two flaky pastizzi and a sip of kinnie, the surprising local bitter-orange soda 🥤. Ten kilometres at daybreak, then an island of Knights to explore ⚔️: that’s a 10 km that’s bound to treat you! 🤓
The bib, safety pins, and timing chip can be collected at Eurosport B'Kara on Saturday 10 October 2026 from 11am to 3pm. Collection is only possible by providing the ID card or passport number used during registration. Someone else may pick up your bib for you, provided they present the same number.
On Sunday 11 October 2026, the 10 km starts at 7am and the Kids Race at 8:45am. Both the start and finish are on Triq il-Mitjar ta' San Niklaw, on the outskirts of Siġġiewi, in the south of Malta. The 10 km finish line closes at 9am.
