A town in Idaho where people sing in Welsh, barley fields as far as the eye can see, and farm roads without a single car: welcome to the Malad Valley Marathon. On the schedule: a marathon, a half, a 10k, a 5k and a family mile.
Everyone starts together from Malad City Park. Marathon and half-marathon runners head out on big loops through the valley, half on packed dirt, half on asphalt. The marathon has around 384 m of elevation gain and finishes with a long downhill on country roads. You’ll be running at about 1,370 m elevation in early fall: the air is crisp, and the mountains frame the horizon. A true nature setting. 🌾
This edition falls on September 11, and the organizers make it a moment of tribute and gratitude. After the race, extend the getaway in the hot pools of Lava Hot Springs, 35 minutes away, or among the granite boulders of the City of Rocks National Reserve.
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
