If you are looking for a start with the most magical atmosphere in the entire Grand Prix Gdynia cycle, Night Run of Midsummer is a must. Traditionally held in June, around the shortest night of the year. Starting at midnight (or late evening) makes the 10-kilometer route through Świętojańska Street, Kościuszko Square, and the port area take on a completely different dimension. Thousands of runners with headlamps create a river of light flowing through the sleeping city to the accompaniment of a sea breeze 🌊✨.
After the night finish and collecting the medal (often themed with sea legends or referring to the tradition of Midsummer Night), Gdynia offers unique post-hours recovery:
Sunrise on the beach: Nothing tastes better than a moment of rest on the sand of the Gdynia City Beach, waiting for the first light over the Bay of Gdańsk. It is the perfect time for foot cryotherapy in the cool Baltic 🌅.
Night wharf: Take a stroll along the Pomeranian Wharf. The illuminated masts of the Dar Młodzieży and the silhouette of the ORP Błyskawica at night look almost cinematic and make for a perfect background for memorial photos with a medal 🚢.
View of the sleeping city: Ride or walk up to Kamienna Góra. From the observation deck, you can see the illuminated port and ships waiting at the roadstead – it's the best place to unwind after the starting emotions 🏙️.
Although most places are closed at this time, Gdynia's gastronomy often adjusts to the run. For a well-deserved burger or pizza "on top," it's worth visiting the vicinity of Świętojańska Street, where the social life is bustling after the run 🍕. The first morning coffee at one of the cafes by the Sea Boulevard will wake you up after a sleepless but endorphin-filled night ☕.
This run proves that Gdynia never sleeps, especially when runners with a passion for sports take to the route! 🥇
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
