The event in a few words

You can choose between the classic 10 km distance (Night Run) and a fast charity five (5 km as part of the Avon Běh). The start and finish are usually located around Komenského sady – one of the largest and most beautiful city parks in the Czech Republic, stretching along the banks of the Ostrawica River, right below the monumental New Town Hall complex. Thousands of headlamps reflected in the water’s surface and flickering between the park trees create a spectacular ribbon of light.

Once you’ve switched off your headlamp and collected your glow-in-the-dark medal, Ostrava – a city with a harsh industrial past that today pulses with modern culture and greenery – invites you to a brilliant weekend reset:

Industrial cosmos in Dolní Vítkovice (DOV): This is an absolute must. A former steelworks, coking plant and mine turned into a gigantic, steampunk center of culture and science. Take a ride up to Bolt Tower (a café and terrace suspended atop a massive blast furnace, named after the legendary sprinter Usain Bolt) – the view of the city and the Beskidy will take your breath away 🏗️.

Observation tower of the New Town Hall (Nová radnica): If you want to see your night-run route from above, climb the highest town hall tower in the Czech Republic (85 meters). Green swathes of parks interwoven with the winding towers of former mines create a unique panorama 🏛️.

Upper Silesian-Moravian feast for recovery: After a solid effort, it’s time for some serious refueling. Drop by a traditional restaurant for Slezský vrabec (“Silesian sparrow” – roasted pieces of pork served with two kinds of cabbage and fluffy dumplings). A mug of crisp, no-nonsense Radegast – as tough as this region – or the local Ostravar pairs perfectly 🍲.

Recharge the batteries in your headlamp, hop in the car, and let yourself be carried away by the incredible energy of nighttime Czechia during the NN Night Run in Ostrava!
