What if you swapped your skis for your running shoes for a frosty evening in Savoie ? 🌙
The PÅLÄR TRAIL is a night race in the heart of the mountains, on the snow, with a festive atmosphere that warms even the chilliest toes ❄️.
One course, four distances, so you have no excuse not to come! 🎉 The principle is simple: a 2.5 km loop that you repeat 1 to 4 times, depending on how you feel. Just like on the ski slopes, your bandana shows your level:
Green for 2.5 km and 10 m of elevation gain, ideal for a gentle first time.
Blue for 5 km and 20 m of elevation gain, to pick up a bit of pace.
Red for 7.5 km and 30 m of elevation gain, for those who like a challenge.
Black for 10 km and 40 m of elevation gain, for the hungry ones who want even more.
The elevation gain stays very gentle, so you mostly enjoy the atmosphere, the sparkling headlamps and the crunch of the snow. You can come solo, with friends or with family, there is a trail for everyone. Once you've crossed the finish line, your weekend is only just beginning. Here are my tips around the start:
• The Sybelles ski area, right next door, for a day of skiing or snowshoeing with views of the peaks 🏔️.
• The neighboring resort of Le Corbier, for a hot chocolate break with a view.
• Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, a short drive down the road, with its cathedral and cloister.
• The Opinel Museum, in the same town, to discover the history of the famous Savoyard knife.
To recover properly, end the evening with a nice, gooey tartiflette 🧀.
So, which bandana color will you choose?
