After starting in 2013 with the Kimbia Kenya 🇰🇪, Exaequo Voyages has continued to work to offer extraordinary sports trips. In recent years, other significant races have been created by these exceptional organizers: the Irish Trail (Ireland 🇮🇪), the Norway Fjord Trail (Norway 🇳🇴), and the Cabo Verde Ribeira Trail (Cape Verde 🇨🇻). Now, it's time to set your bags in Western Asia and hit the ground running 🏃‍♀️. Jordan, a country nestled between the Dead Sea and the Red Sea 🌊, is a haven of peace in a conflict-ridden area. A protected zone spared from the events that shake the Middle East. So, rest assured: you're not only heading to a safe country, but also on an organized and perfectly calibrated adventure for maximum enjoyment! 🥰 Moreover, to ensure everyone can participate and have a great time, two distances have been created. Thus, you can tackle this trek in "long distance" 🙌 or "short distance" 🤏 mode. The long distance boasts 85 km (1 460 mD+ / 2 730 mD-), while the short one offers "just" 60 (890 mD+ / 2 200 mD-). But what exactly entails the second edition of the Petra trail? Let's dive in! 👇

It's a staged trail run lasting 8 days, organized in September, while temperatures are still warm 🌞. However, only 5 days will be dedicated to running itself... We hear your concerns! Don't worry: you will run plenty! 😅 Days for setup and recovery will be necessary and will allow you to delve deeper into the culture and meet the locals. Indeed, upon your arrival in the capital, Amman, you'll head north to your encampment in the middle of the mountains, at Ajloun ⛺️. There, you'll do your first acclimatization jog 😌. But it's the next day, after sharing a meal and sleeping under the stars 🌌, that you'll start your first 10 km stage. You'll explore the Roman city of Jerash, enjoy a rejuvenating dip in the Dead Sea, and visit the village of Dana 🎵. There, you will spend your second night alongside your teammates. Stretching over 16.5 km or 13 km, your second stage takes place near Shobak. During this beautiful race, you will have a panoramic view of the Wadi Araba desert 🌵 and traverse one of the many fortresses in the region. Then, you'll spend another night in Dana.

The third day of your journey will plunge you into the valley. With 1 000 mD- and 19 km (15 km for the short distance), your legs will feel the burn as you make your way into the canyon 🏜️. After lunch, you'll continue to the majestic city of Petra. On the way, you'll pass near the Wadi Araba, the country's second largest desert ✌️, which will amaze you with its white dunes 🤍. It's in this stunning landscape that you'll spend another night, at Little Petra 😴, before embarking on your 4th stage: visiting Petra. This is the highlight of the trip as the distance will be, depending on your choice, 10 km or 20 km, with significant elevation gains in both cases 📈. In the evening, the desert experience will intensify with a Bedouin night where you'll live a timeless moment (and without network). Finally, for your last day and to finish this escapade in beauty, you'll wander through the part of the "white desert", a magnificent oasis, considered by many as "the most beautiful desert in the world" 😍. This final part, stretching over 18 km or 11.5 km, will be challenging 🥵. But, considering what you have already achieved, we are confident you'll have no problem finishing it and claiming your much-coveted finisher medal 🥇 . It's within this astonishing setting, which has also been a filming location for some Star Wars movies, where you'll spend your last night enjoying a celebratory evening as a grand prize-giving ceremony is organized. And there's no rush to head home! The following day will be a free day reserved for visiting Amman, the capital, to relax before heading back to the airport 🛫.
