The event in a few words

As a trail runner 👟, we know you're a fan of muddy trails and challenging weather conditions ⛈️. But how about a race right in the heart of Catalonia, under the May sunshine? 🌞 If that sounds tempting, you're in the right place! We're taking you to the RunThrough Girona, the brand new event by the RunThrough Trails organization. For their first race in Spain 🇪🇸, the organizers have prepared some top-notch routes 🤌. You'll traverse the Rocacorba Massif 🏔️, offering you a new perspective of the city of Girona and the Costa Brava! That's right, you might not only swear by Barcelona anymore! 😉

Whether you're a beginner trail runner or seasoned 💪, there's no excuse not to tackle these picturesque paths 🥰. A short trail and two long trails are available: 26.2 km and 427 mD+ for the shorter one 👶 and for the more challenging, you'll find 48 km with 1,097 mD+ or even 103 km with 2,962 mD+. Yes, the latter is closer to an ultra-trail! 😅 But we assure you that the landscapes are worth the effort 🤓. Although you might face some steep and technical climbs 📈 in the Puigsou (another name for Rocacorba), you'll be on the top of the Girona region, and it's well deserved! ☝️ This has long been a renowned destination for outdoor sports 🏞️, and even mountain biking enthusiasts love these trails 🚴. No matter the distance you choose, it's a true journey into the medieval and Roman history ⚔️ of the city, as you pass through several authentic small villages 🏘️. To tease your appetite 🤤, here are some iconic spots that will keep you company during the race: the Parc de la Devesa, the Ter River, the Sanctuary of Mare de Déu de Rocacorba ⛪ or the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park! 🤯 Only the 103 km runners will have the chance to get close to this unique natural site between forests 🌲 and inactive volcanoes 🌋.

Even though this event might seem adult-only 🧑, it's not! 🤗 The organizers have planned a full weekend around the trail, among enthusiasts and especially with family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. Because yes, sharing your passion is important! 😁 To that end, children will have a chance to participate in a short 2 km race, the "Girona Junior Race", entirely set in the mythical Parc de la Devesa 🌳.

And if you’re looking to know a little more about the region to wrap up the weekend 🧳, while giving your legs a bit of a rest 🦵, the Costa Brava is only 35 km away! So hop in the car and head to the water! 🌊 If you prefer staying in the city of four rivers, you can stroll around its many museums 🎨, shops 🛍️, or relax at a restaurant terrace and enjoy delicious tapas! 😋

We know your eyes are already sparkling ✨, so grab your bib for the RunThrough Girona! 🏃‍♂️
