Take on one of the toughest trail runs in Northern Europe! Salomon Hammer Trail takes place in the scenic, rugged, granite north of the island of Bornholm (in the Hammeren peninsula area). Runners can choose from a huge range of distances – from a leisurely 8 km, through 17 km and 25 km, all the way to brutal ultra challenges of 50 km and 50 miles 🏃. The course is a true running rollercoaster: narrow, sandy-rocky paths along the edge of sea cliffs, steep climbs up granite hills, and a loop around the emerald Lake Opalsøen.
After conquering the routes and a well-deserved rest, Bornholm will enchant you with its unique island vibe:
See the mighty ruins of Hammershus Castle – the largest medieval stronghold in Scandinavia, proudly perched on a high cliff just above the Baltic waves 🏰. Head to one of the traditional smokehouses with their distinctive white chimneys (e.g., in Gudhjem or Allinge) or visit the unique, round rotunda churches, the most famous of which is in Østerlars ⛪.Then, see the impressive rocky ravine and the Jons Kapel (Jon’s Chapel) formation on the island’s west coast, or book a boat trip to the picturesque small archipelago of the islands Ertholmen (Christiansø) 🏝️.
And to finish the day, taste the island’s culinary symbol – Sol over Gudhjem (“Sun over Gudhjem”), i.e., hot-smoked herring served on dark bread with a raw egg yolk, radish, and chives. It pairs perfectly with local beer from the craft brewery Svaneke Bryghus 🐟🍺.
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
