Looking for a sporting challenge that combines pushing your limits with magnificent landscapes? 🌄 Then the Trail du Berger is waiting for you to hit its trails in its beautiful region of Occitanie. On the program, two timed trail races are offered: a first 10 km "Le Petit Tunnel", and a second of 25 km, "Les Innocents". The event will take place in early May, the perfect time of year to run with sunshine and spring warmth 💐. As for the route, the start as well as the finish 🏁 will take place in the town of Aniane 📍. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to pass through charming towns like Gignac and La Boissière 🤓. Don’t forget that there is still plenty of elevation gain; the route goes through hilly paths and trails 📈. So you’ll need to be in top shape with competition-ready legs! 😎
Save a bit of energy to admire the view too 🔎. The commune of Aniane is full of charm and above all lets you enjoy the most beautiful landscapes of the Hérault 🖼️. It has a rich cultural heritage, notably by being home to the Natura 2000 site Gorges de l’Hérault 🍃. If you’re a lover 😍 of wildlife and flora, this race is sure to make you happy ! 🐑 Most of the routes are in the forest, in the fresh air 🌲. If that’s not enough, we have other activities to suggest, for example Mont Saint-Baudille, which offers one of the best panoramas over the Hérault plain! 👀 Or, go refresh your mind (or your legs 😋) at Lac de Salagou! 💧 There, you can go hiking as well as do water activities like paddleboarding or kayaking... 🚣♀️ And finally, we can only recommend taking a little detour to the local markets 👩🌾. You’ll discover the local produce in all its forms and all its flavors 👅. It’s the best way to soak up the region! 🤩
To wrap up the introductions, we still wanted to tell you who is behind the Trail du Berger! It’s JeCoursToujours à Gignac and its behind-the-scenes helping hands who work to welcome participants in the best conditions 🫶. Behind this name is an association that has been offering running 🏃♂️, trail, and walking outings, for leisure or competition 🏅 since 2017. The Trail du Berger is above all a charity race; all the routes are adapted for people with disabilities 👨🏻🦽. The routes can be done in a jöelette. It is an all-terrain, single-wheel chair that allows hiking for anyone with reduced mobility. It can be used with the help of two or four accompanying people 👫. Because even if running is sometimes seen as an individual sport, it’s above all a sport that is shared, where everyone needs others to move forward!
Be careful, this race welcomes only a limited number of participants; with a human-scale event, you’ll be able to enjoy it in the best conditions, but you mustn’t wait too long 🤩.
