Mmm, we're already salivating thinking about all the great vintage beautiful routes there are to taste cross... 🙄 Yes! It probably won't really surprise you, but it's in Rhône, in Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes ⛰️, and more precisely in the Beaujolais 🍷, that we take you to participate in the Beaujolais Footrace Trail 🏃♀️. It is in Fleurie 💐, a town that lives up to its name 🥰, where you will start this competition offering 5 distances: 4 trails of 90 km, 33 km, 21 km, and 12 km as well as a walk of 12 km 🚶.
But before setting the scene, we'll start with a little quiz 🤓. Let's go for "Questions for a Champion"! 🙋♂️ What's the common point between "Mathusalem", "Jeroboam", and "Magnum"? Hint: it has nothing to do with the Bible! 😜 Mmm, no? You really don't know? 😬 Come on, we'll tell you: these are wine bottle sizes, the magnum obviously being the most known 🍾. You can imagine there's a reason why organizers named the races like that 😏. Yes! You have 4 trails on offer: "The Beaujolais Odyssey" of 90 km with 4,000 mD+, "The Mathusalem" of 33 km with 1,390 mD+, "The Jeroboam" of 21 km with 890 mD+, and "The Magnum" of 12 km with 390 mD+. Are they fans of wine? 😅 And that's not all, because a hike of 12 km is also organized for walkers or families 👨👩👧👧. This trail is part of the Trail Tour Beaujolais events. It's the third race out of 9 other trails in the Beaujolais region! By completing all the races in this challenge, you could qualify for the overall ranking 🏆 and compete with the best trail runners in the region 😎.
Ah, you see! It will smell nice in April, in Fleurie! 🌸 No, it's not just a bad pun! 😅 The city, located between Mâcon and Villefranche-sur-Saône, hosts a remarkable event, combining good weather ☀️, dreamy scenery, and a wine experience 😋. You will indeed be able to run amid the vineyards 🍇 of the Saône Valley 🌊, enjoying its breathtaking landscapes. You will trail through the region on natural dirt paths 🌳 and take a great breath of fresh air 🌬️. These trails will also bring you to neighboring communes like Chiroubles, Emeringes, and Vauxrenard.
An after-race meal will be offered to athletes, to conclude this vibrant competition 🌈. And why not, afterward, enjoy the festivities? 🥳 After all, we're in the perfect place! 👌 Beaujolais is a renowned wine region ✨ for its many Appellation d’Origine Controlée wines (AOC) and the quality of its light, fruity red wines 🫐 (see: the Beaujolais Nouveau, which every respectable French person has tasted 🇫🇷). The event promises to be very festive and friendly (always in moderation, of course 😏). You might also, for instance, visit a few cellars, participate in some tastings, or simply continue your hikes in the wild beautiful spots of the region. The range of possibilities is wide! 🙌 But that will, of course, depend on your fatigue and the condition of your legs 😂. We imagine you might not be up for much if you run 33 km! There you go, the sermon is over! 🗣️
Well, that was a pun with Mathusalem yes... Ok, it was lame 👎. So, we will cry in our corner 😢 and see you in April to run with us at the Beaujolais Footrace Trail! 🤤
