Take on one of the longest, toughest, and most relentless ultra races on the Emerald Isle!
The Kerry Way Ultra is a brutal test of character along the iconic Kerry Way trail in County Kerry 🏃🍀. Runners face an impressive 200 km with over 5,000 m of elevation gain, with a 40-hour time limit (for those looking for a slightly shorter challenge, options include the UltraLite ~58 km distance and relay teams). The route forms a loop with the start and finish in Killarney, leading through wilderness, rocky mountain passes in the shadow of the MacGillycuddy's Reeks range, treacherous bogs, and the edges of ocean cliffs—where fickle Atlantic weather can change a dozen times in a single day.
After surviving this exhausting odyssey, the Kerry region offers one of Ireland’s most beautiful and welcoming corners! Head to Killarney National Park – stroll along the lakeshores, visit the 19th-century estate Muckross House and see the Torc Waterfall hidden in dense woodland 🌳🏰. Hire a traditional horse-drawn carriage (Jaunting Car) with a local guide and take a ride through the picturesque Gap of Dunloe 🐴🏞️, then see the entire peninsula by driving the famous panoramic Ring of Kerry route—or head to the neighboring, exceptionally scenic Dingle Peninsula 🌊🏔️.
Finally, after thousands of calories burned, eat juicy roast Kerry lamb (Kerry Lamb) served with mashed potatoes and homemade soda bread. For evening recovery in a traditional pub with live music, order a warming Irish Coffee or a local craft beer from a brewery in Killarney 🥩☕🍺
A next-gen platform helping sports enthusiasts of all levels discover territories and heritage through races tailored to them.
