The event in a few words

When the sun goes doooown " 🎶

Well, nothing to do with Lady Gaga's hit, the Sundgau is a part of Alsace where hills stretch to the Swiss 🇨🇭 and German 🇩🇪 borders. It's here, at the heart of the Three Borders Region, that you have an appointment in May for the Sundgauvienne 🚴. Young yet already well-established among major early-season cycling events, this cyclosportive is perfect for training and assessing your early-season fitness level 👏.

We guarantee you, the Sundgauvienne is an ode to the gentle nature of the Haut-Rhin 📍. Whether you're a competitor or enjoy leisurely rides, you're in the right place. Among forests, mountains, and valleys, you'll evolve in a simply splendid natural setting 😍. Starting from the town of Hégenheim, the peloton sets off to conquer the Sundgau, this "southern territory" whose name comes from Alemannic 🤓. What? Alemanni what? 🤨 Let us explain: Alemannic is a group of High German dialects 👆. The name Sundgau breaks down into two parts: Sund for "south," and Gau for "territory" 🗺️. The Sundgau is thus bordered by Switzerland to the south, the Rhine Valley to the east, and the Territory of Belfort . Now that you know everything, you're ready to face this place! 👊 Two routes are available, depending on your desire and fitness level 💪. You can choose between a "Rando" format of 59 km and 990 mD+ or a race of 130 km and 2,100 mD+ 📈. You'll pass charming places like Liebenswiller, Oltingue, Wolschwiller or Oberlarg. Keep your eyes wide open and look up! 👀 You won't experience this every day (but keep an eye on your handlebars 🥴). And since every effort deserves a reward, a post-race meal awaits, to regain strength and toast with your road companions 😋.

The Sundgauvienne is also a unifying event, an energy driver for the whole region ⚡️. By attracting cyclists, companions, and onlookers, it highlights the Southern Alsace and energizes its villages. Hotels fill up, restaurants thrive, and terraces come alive 🍻. It's an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts and create bonds 🔗. And if you wish to extend the adventure after setting aside your helmet, head to the Wolschwiller Biological Reserve, in the heart of the Alsatian Jura, for a walk in absolute tranquility 🌱. The more curious will head to the Wiesendamm Promenade, or continue to Mulhouse, just 35 km away, to discover the Train Museum which holds the largest railway collection in Europe 🚂. Perfect for getting out of your daily routine, right? 😆

So, ready to pedal at the crossroads of worlds? 🫡

A few more words

The 130 km is the crown jewel distance of the Sundgauvienne 👑. Starting from the COSEC of Hégenheim, you first take the same route as the hiking format: Hagenthal-le-Bas, Leymen, Oltingue, Wolschwiller… up to Kiffis, where the two routes split 🔀. And that's where the serious part begins 🫡.

You turn towards Neumühle, then dive into the wild heart of the Sundgau. You follow along Lake Lucelle before crossing through Oberlarg, Courtavon, Pfetterhouse, and Seppois-le-Bas. The road then guides you towards Durlinsdorf and Vieux-Ferrette 📍. After crossing over the Ill 💧, you complete your adventure by rejoining the route you took on the way to Hégenheim 🏅
