Be careful not to roll over in Thonon, or you might end up in the water! 💦
After conquering the roads of the Haute-Savoie and the edge of Lake Geneva with the Thonon-les-Bains Cycling Race, the organizers are releasing runners into the city! The Thonon-les-Bains Running Race takes place on the same weekend as this event, so if you prefer cycling, it's time to lace up your sneakers 👟 and vice versa, fellow runners, it's time to test yourself on two wheels! 🚴 But no riding here; to complete the race, you'll need to use your legs 🦵. So, reserve your last weekend of May and prepare for two days of sports and holiday vibes 🌞.
But before lazing by the lake with your feet up, you'll start the 5 km or 10 km race along the docks. The adventure begins in the heart of Thonon-les-Bains, between the mountains, with the Dent d'Oche in the background and the low evening light! 🌄 Starting from the docks 🛣️, you'll discover Thonon and its history with the Château de Ripaille 🏰. You'll quickly reach a green haven: the Arboretum 🌳, before heading back to the finish line 🏁. The small Savoyard province of Chablais will see athletes of all levels pass by: beginners, seasoned bib-wearers, or those chasing seconds on the clock ⏱️. No elevation in sight; you won't be heading up to the endpoint of the Funicular! Thus, a highly accessible course awaits you: a flurry of personal records should descend upon the city 💪 (and yet, sunny weather will prevail 🌤️).
The Thonon-les-Bains Running Race is also an experience to relish after the race! 😉 Between the exhibitor village and the overall atmosphere through the day, you won't get bored 🥳. If you feel like it, you can take a dip in Lake Geneva 🏊♀️, although the water temperature might deter you 🥶. To stretch your legs after your event, visit the Chablais museum or ascend with the funicular for an unbeatable view of the lake and the mountains! 🤩 Along your path, you'll find numerous historical sites 🤓, so keep your eyes peeled if you're eager to learn more about the history of Thonon. Once you've toured the high town ⬆️, descend to the edge of Lake Geneva to discover the port of Rives and its old fishing village 🎣. You can even dine there with fresh fish straight from the lake! 😋
It's surprising you haven't already got your race bib! 🤯
For this 5 km, you will start from the Quai de la Ripaille, by the Lake Geneva 🏞️ with the Dent d'Oche in the background 🏔️. You will pass near Thonon Beach, in front of the Château de la Ripaille and cross the Arboretum before heading back to the finish line along the docks! 🤩
You can pick up your race bib on Saturday, May 2, 2026, starting at 9 a.m. and until 30 minutes before your start time.
