The event in a few words

Have you ever dreamed of running in the Land of the Rising Sun? 🌅 Well, here's the perfect opportunity for you! 🫵

The Tondabayashi Ecomarathon, located in the beautiful city of Tondabayashi, in the Osaka Prefecture, in Japan 🇯🇵, is a must-attend event for any runner 🏃‍♂️. This road race takes place in September 🌞, offering 2 timed races ⏱️ of 5 km and 10 km. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, you'll have the opportunity to run along the bike path that runs beside the Minamikawachi bike path 🎣. If you're here for a family day, a 5 km parent-child race 👩‍👦 is organized. In any case, you'll start at 11 AM, and since the races are limited to 200 participants in total, you won't have to worry about being trampled when the race starts 🤓.

With several other sports events organized, particularly in the prefectures of Saitama, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Kumamoto (but mainly in Tokyo 🌸), the Ecomarathon places itself as an environmentally friendly organization 🌳 and engaged in different causes 🎗️. This year, you can donate to the international refugee support association: Second Harvest Japan. As Japan's first food bank, the organization is committed to ensuring everyone has access to food 🍲.

If you plan to extend your stay and visit the region, Osaka Prefecture is full of attractions for young and old! The Kaiyukan Aquarium is one of the largest in the world, housing a wide variety of marine life 🦈. The Universal Studios Japan are the first to have opened outside the United States, similar to those in Orlando, and have been introducing exclusive attractions for a few years, so you can find manga heroes 🫰 and popular Japanese characters. If you only have one day in the prefecture and don't know what to choose, why not go on an excursion to the city of Kyoto, former capital of Japan and an iconic place of traditional Japanese culture 🎏.

Today, Tondabayashi is a historic city with a strong religious past reflected in its architecture🎐. In the very center, about 250 of the approximately 600 townhouses have remained traditional houses, like the former Sugiyama residence, located southwest of the city, an important cultural heritage listed at the national level! 😍

So, ready to take on the challenge? Warm up, tie your laces, and rush to sign up for the Tondabayashi Ecomarathon! 🚀

5 reasons to join this race

Discover Japan 🇯🇵
If you've never been to Japan, running the Tondabayashi Ecomarathon is the perfect opportunity to discover this country that combines tradition and modernity at all times. If you decide to extend your stay, we invite you to explore Osaka Prefecture. Between Osaka Castle 🏯, the Kaiyukan Aquarium 🦈, or Universal Studios Japan 🎡, these attractions are all more famous than the others 🤩.
Participate in a human-sized event 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒
The maximum attendance is 200 people. If you're used to international races with several thousand participants, you'll see that it's not the same excitement. But don't worry, we guarantee you'll have just as much (if not more) fun running! 🏃
Run in an eco-friendly way ♻️
The city of Tondabayashi is very committed to protecting the environment and preserving the surrounding beaches, rivers, and mountains. In its organization, the ecomarathon has focused on race bibs made from recyclable material and recyclable cups ♻. The organizer encourages runners to bring their own containers for refreshments 🥤.
Taste Japanese specialties 🍱
Although less known gastronomically than some of its neighbors, the city of Tondabayashi offers a wide range of culinary specialties 🥡 that will delight you during your stay. We invite you to taste (without moderation) Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, or even mochi 🍡 to nicely conclude your meal 🤤.
A flat and fast route ⚡️
Whether you choose to run 5 or 10 km, you might be surprised by the ease of the courses, which may allow you to beat your personal record 🏅. If you wish to spend a Saturday in the family, the 5 km is available in a "parent-child" format for children under 15 years 🧒.
