The event in a few words
Have you ever dreamed of running in the Land of the Rising Sun? ๐ Well, here's the perfect opportunity for you! ๐ซต
The Tondabayashi Ecomarathon, located in the beautiful city of Tondabayashi, in the Osaka Prefecture, Japan ๐ฏ๐ต, is a must-attend event for any runner ๐โโ๏ธ. This road race takes place in June ๐, offering 2 timed races โฑ๏ธ of 5 km and 10 km. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned runner, you'll have the chance to run along the cycling path that follows the Minamikawachi cycling path ๐ฃ. If you're coming for a family day out, there's a non-timed parent-child race ๐ฉโ๐ฆ of 5 km. All races start at 11 a.m., and with a limit of 200 participants in total, you won't have to worry about overcrowding at the start line ๐ค.
With several other sporting events organized, especially in the prefectures of Saitama, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Kumamoto (but mainly in Tokyo ๐ธ), the Ecomarathon positions itself as an environmentally conscious ๐ณ and socially engaged ๐๏ธ organization. This year, participants can make donations to the International Refugee Support Association: Second Harvest Japan. As Japan's first food bank, the organization is dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to food ๐ฒ.
If you plan to extend your stay and explore the region, Osaka Prefecture is brimming with attractions for all ages! The Kaiyukan Aquarium is one of the largest in the world, housing a vast array of marine life ๐ฆ. The Universal Studios Japan were the first to open outside the United States; similar to Orlando's, they have recently started offering exclusive attractions featuring manga heroes ๐ซฐ and popular Japanese characters. If you only have one day in the prefecture and can't decide what to do, consider a trip to the city of Kyoto, Japan's former capital and a symbol of traditional Japanese culture ๐.
Today, Tondabayashi is a historic town with a rich religious past reflected in its architecture๐. In the city center, about 250 out of roughly 600 townhouses have retained their traditional design, like the former Sugiyama residence, located southwest of town, which is a nationally designated important cultural property! ๐
So, are you ready to take on the challenge? Let's warm up, lace up those shoes, and get signed up for the Tondabayashi Ecomarathon! ๐
