Do you know the secrets of Lozère, this nature department, located in Occitanie? 🌞 No? Perfect timing, as we're taking you today to the heart of the Parc National des Cévennes ⛰️, a truly magnificent place! It's in Rousses, a small commune of 118 inhabitants 🤏, that the Trail de Rousses takes place. The Gorges du Tapoul are not far, and the local cliffs delight canyoning and via ferrata enthusiasts. It's in this privileged setting that you'll have the privilege of running 🏃♀️.
The organizers of the Trail de Rousses take advantage of the exceptional scenery around the commune to offer you an enjoyable experience, respecting the nature 🌳. It's in this spirit of respect that the only trail route of the race was born: 13 km. A perfect distance for beginners 👶. 700 mD+ awaits you on the challenge, where you will traverse the reliefs of the south of the commune. After the challenge, this family trail offers you a fresh beer (to be consumed in moderation) with all the volunteers, locals from the village 📍. For those who wish to extend the evening 🪩, the organizers have prepared a dancing evening with a DJ so you can light up the dance floor and show your best moves!🕺
Around the race, this magnificent department awaits nature lovers! You'll have plenty to choose from with four major geographical zones 🌍: the Margeride, heavily wooded with long streams, the Aubrac with its rivers and lakes, the Cévennes Lozériennes, between the Mont Aigoual and Mont Lozère, and finally, the Causses and its Gorges du Tarn. We highly recommend these last ones... You'll want to get lost in these canyons 😍. Rousses is roughly an hour from all these beautiful destinations. The famous village of Saint-Chély, connected to the road by a majestic bridge consisting of a single arch, awaits you firmly 🌁.
The culture thrives here. There are plenty of activities to do, like visiting the little wonder of Sainte-Enimie, classified by UNESCO, not far from Utopix. There is something for everyone: full-on nature with the European Bison Reserve in Margeride 🦬 or a bit urban with Mende and its cathedral ⛪️, its Notre Dame bridge... The Château de Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole 🏰 or the Manor of Issenges will delight history and castle enthusiasts. If you have the time, take a tour of Lac Charpal or the cascade du Déroc, key places to visit in Lozère.
