Amid the Flowers of Scotland, we offer you a unique event. Not a rugby match ๐, of course, but a magnificent trail in the United Kingdom ๐.
Join us in May at Blair Castle near Blair Atholl for an exciting weekend ๐ค. Here, we're in the true, deep, natural Scotland ๐งโ๐จ. Very Highlander, very Outlander, very Harry Potter. Those typical landscapes you see on social media ๐ฑ, you'll be running through them: truly impressive ๐. It's often said that Scotland is rainy ๐ง๏ธ and windy ๐จ, but in May, you'll just have a blast! ๐ฆถ These are perfect conditions ๐ for a trail. But not just one, we're generous, you'll have a choice of 5 routes ๐! Plus, a kids' race as well! ๐ง
In the region of Perth & Kinross, "big tree country", you'll run a good portion in the woods ๐ณ, no matter which of the 5 distances you choose. If you're motivated, you'll head for the "Full Tilt Ultra", stretching 58 km. You'll climb two munros, Scottish mountains โฐ๏ธ rising more than 900m high. The total elevation? You'll find out on the spot, we're keeping the suspense until the end ๐. After all, Scotland ๐ด is full of surprises ๐. One more, one lessโฆ ๐คซ You also have the "Dearg Up nโ Doon" at 30 km where you'll climb just one โ๏ธ munro this time. It's still pretty tough, your thighs will burn ๐ฅ but you'll love it ๐ฅฐ. The "Atholl Trail Half Marathon" kicks off the next day for 21 km through lochs ๐ถ and forest paths ๐ฒ. It's one of the most loved for a reason, you'll produce enough lactic acid for the month without collapsing ๐ซ. It's 21 km of pure joy! ๐คฉ At 13 km, you can enjoy the "Banvie Burn": a packed fun ๐ in the heart of nature ๐ณ. Keep your eyes wide open ๐ to soak as much of the atmosphere around you. If you're lucky, you'll come across some typical local species ๐, especially the Shetland horses ๐ด. They're shaggy and short-legged but absolutely adorable ๐ป. If you're less greedy for kilometers (it's less tasty than a Sunday Roast ๐ฒ), want to take it easy, or if you're starting and want to experience your first trail in style, "Dianaโs Grove", at 7 km, is the perfect race for you ๐ซต. No giant mountain to climb ๐ง like its big sisters of 58 km and 32 km BUT some technical passages and elevation ๐ not to be overlooked! Sam Heughan will have to watch out, the real warrior will be you!
In Blair Atholl, we want no jealousy: we share together ๐ฅ. Kids are just as welcome ๐ and can also participate in their own trail. The "Kids Fun Run" is the perfect race for mini-runners to have their moment of glory ๐ . And because happiness never comes alone, many other surprises will be awaiting you ๐: an outdoor cinema ๐ฌ, yoga session ๐ง, camping ๐๏ธ, conferences ๐ค, small concerts ๐ถโฆ A festive weekend from start to finish! ๐ฅณ
In the area, recovery is done in a festive style, but also as a tourist! ๐ค Scotland is not just about whisky ๐ฅ and Loch Ness ๐. Indeed, alcohol is dangerous for health and should be consumed in moderation โ ๏ธ. It's also about castles ๐ฐ, aqueducts ๐, cliffs, neo-Gothic architectureโฆ If you want to seize the chance for a little road trip ๐, now's the time! Besides the charming village ๐๏ธ of Blair Atholl and its castle dating back to the 13th century, there are plenty of charming places to explore while taking it easy ๐. Numerous hikes ๐ฅพ await you at Glen Tilt, visits to Balmoral, Saint-Andrews, Inverness or even Aberdeen and Edinburgh for those who arenโt afraid of driving on the left. After your race, you'll surely want to fill your mind with memories, your heart with joyful moments, and your stomach with food ๐ฒ! You'll encounter many different styles depending on your touring choices, but don't leave without trying the smoked Scottish salmon, a good bowl of stovies (potato-based ๐ฅ), haggis, or the pies ๐ฅง and desserts ๐ฎ made with Scotch like cranachan!
So, are you ready to frolic in the land of thistles? ๐ธ
Starting point from Blair Atholl, not far from the castle ๐ฐ and River Tilt ๐ฆ. You will follow the Hercules Gardens โฒ๏ธ, Whim Plantation and start climbing up to 986 m altitude at km 16. You will descend over the next 15 km towards the forest Blairuachdar before ascending towards Forest Lodge Wood ๐ณ then climb 600 mD+ at km 43. You will then return to your starting point after 58 km of trail in the wild Scotland ๐ด.
