Amidst the Flowers of Scotland, we're offering you a unique event. Not a rugby match ๐, of course, but a superb trail in the United Kingdom ๐.
Meet in May at Blair Castle near Blair Atholl for an epic weekend ๐ค. Here, we are in the real, deep, natural Scotland ๐งโ๐จ. Very Highlander, very Outlander, very Harry Potter. The iconic landscapes you see on social media ๐ฑ, you will run through them: pure class ๐. The saying goes that Scotland is often rainy ๐ง๏ธ and windy ๐จ, but in May, you'll just have a blast! ๐ฆถ It's the perfect conditions ๐ for a trail. Not just one, we're generous, you'll have the choice among 5 routes ๐! With a children's race to boot! ๐ง
In the Perth & Kinross area, known as "big tree country", you'll run much of it through the woods ๐ณ, no matter which of the 5 distances you choose. If you're motivated, you'll embark on the "Full Tilt Ultra", spanning 58 km. You'll climb two munros, Scottish mountains โฐ๏ธ standing over 900m tall. The total elevation gain? You'll find out in the moment, we keep the suspense alive ๐. After all, Scotland ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ is full of surprises ๐. One more, one less... ๐คซ You also have the "Dearg Up nโ Doon" of 30 km where you'll encounter just one โ๏ธ munro this time. It's still pretty good, your thighs will burn ๐ฅ but you'll love it ๐ฅฐ. The "Atholl Trail Half Marathon" begins the next day for 21 km through the lochs ๐ถ and forest trails ๐ฒ. It's one of the most popular, and for good reason, you'll produce enough lactic acid for the month without leaving your lungs on the ground ๐ซ. Itโs 21 km of pure pleasure! ๐คฉ For 13 km, you can take on the "Banvie Burn": a fun-filled experience ๐ in the midst of nature ๐ณ. Keep your eyes open ๐ to soak up as much of the atmosphere around you. If you're lucky, you'll cross paths with some typical local species ๐, particularly Shetland horses ๐ด. They're fluffy and short-legged but absolutely adorable ๐ป. If you're less keen on kilometers (it's less tasty than a Sunday Roast ๐ฒ), want to take it easy, or if you're starting out and wish to experience trail running in style, "Dianaโs Grove", at 7 km, is the perfect race for you ๐ซต. No huge mountains to climb ๐ง like its big sisters of 58 km and 32 km BUT a few technical passages and some elevation ๐ not to be overlooked! Sam Heughan will need to step up, the real soldier will be you!
At Blair Atholl, we want no jealousy: we share everything together ๐ฅ. Therefore, children are just as welcome ๐ and can participate in their own trail. The "Kids Fun Run" is the perfect race for mini-runners to have their moment of glory ๐ . And because happiness never comes alone, many other surprises await you ๐: an outdoor cinema ๐ฌ, a yoga session ๐ง, camping ๐๏ธ, conferences ๐ค, small concerts ๐ถโฆ A festive weekend from start to finish! ๐ฅณ
In the area, recovery is festive but also touristic! ๐ค Scotland isn't only about whisky ๐ฅ and Loch Ness ๐. It's also the castles ๐ฐ, the aqueducts ๐, the cliffs, the neo-Gothic architectureโฆ If you want to take the opportunity for a little road trip ๐ now's the time! Besides the charming village ๐๏ธ of Blair Atholl and its castle dating from the 13th century, there are plenty of delightful spots to explore leisurely ๐. A multitude of hikes ๐ฅพ await at Glen Tilt, tours at Balmoral, Saint-Andrews, Inverness, or even Aberdeen and Edinburgh for those not afraid of driving on the left. After your race, you'll surely want to fill your head with memories, your heart with joy, and your stomach with food ๐ฅ! You'll encounter many different styles depending on your visit choices, but don't leave without trying the Scottish smoked salmon, a good bowl of stovies (potato-based ๐ฅ), haggis, or tarts ๐ฅง and desserts ๐ฎ made with Scotch like cranachan!
So are you ready to frolic in the land of thistles? ๐ธ
