Apart from the name, it has nothing to do with the famous character Truman by Peter Weir and Andrew Niccol; here everything is very real—especially the effort 🥵.
Are you a big fan of two-wheeled racing? 🚵 It’s in Girona, on the Costa Brava, that the biggest cycling program in Europe awaits you. The Tramun Scott MTB Marathon is an event that takes place as part of Sea Otter Europe, bringing together as many Gravel races as Trial, Cyclosportive, MTB or MTB 🏔️. In short, it’s the ultimate championship for all kinds of cycling. But here, we’re going to focus on the king of off-road disciplines: MTB 🫵.
The Tramun Scott MTB Marathon smells of nature, effort, forest and elevation gain 📈. If you like shredding your legs in breathtaking landscapes, you’re in exactly the right place. Girona lies between the volcanic lands of Garrotxa and the Mediterranean forests of northeastern Spain 🇪🇸. It’s no coincidence that the Catalan city is the capital of the comarca of Gironès. But why MTB there? Quite simply for its combination of fast-rolling tracks, playful trails, unique panoramas and intense elevation gain.
For the occasion, the organizers have prepared 2 formats, each with its own vibe 🎉. Recreational riders can set off on a 45 km course, ideal for enjoying a first experience in the great outdoors 🌳. If you’re well prepared, you can even push your calves and quads full gas, and finish before lunchtime 🤪. An effort under the September sun and a Spanish-style meal—what more could you ask for? 🥘 For the more advanced athletes in the discipline, it’s also possible to opt for the long version of 89 km. The 2,750 mD+, alternating between grueling climbs and steep descents, won’t give you a moment’s respite. We recommend getting moving from the very first kilometers—90% of the climbing is before halfway 🤯. At least it sets the tone right from the start 😂.
And after the effort, the adventure is only just beginning. On site, the Sea Otter Europe festival continues with more than 500 brands present, and 70,000 visitors over the entire weekend 🥳. In short, if you’re passionate about cycling, you’re going to find what you’re looking for 😌. Then, don’t forget you’re right in the center of Girona: stroll through the Barri Vell (the old town), cross the colorful houses of the Onyar, climb up to the ramparts of the Passeig de la Muralla (if you’ve got a little juice left in your legs 😅), or take a break at the Girona Cathedral to calm things down 🏰. And if you’ve done the rounds of the local capital, you can hop in the car and head to Barcelona or Lloret Del Mar 🚗. We’ll let you choose between nightclubs and a caliente vibe, or culinary discoveries and cultural ones in the country’s economic capital 🕺. In Spain, you’re spoiled for choice: dance, ride, eat... or all at the same time ✅.
Don’t hesitate any longer and grab your ticket to Girona—you’ll see, the environment will Scott-ch you! 😁
