Ultra Mediterrania

The event in a few words

This is the story of a group of amigos who love running and, during the Covid-19 pandemic, roamed the trails of their favorite mountains ⛰️, in the Alicante province, south of Valencia, in Spain 🇪🇸. One fine day, they decided they shouldn't be so selfish and needed to share these amazing caminos with others (oops, that's not Spanish! 😜). So, since they are a bit crazy, they ventured into creating an event 📍. Not just a small 20 km trail, no, but a 100 miles! 🏃‍♀️ If you're going to dive into the deep baño 🛁, you might as well go into the ocean directly!

With 25 years of experience in athletics and trail running, the amigos imagine everything runners would want from their event, all while keeping two core values at the heart of their approach: respect and solidarity 🤝. And since they also have a knack for marketing, they name their race with an easily memorable name: Ultra Mediterrania 🌊. Vale! They're now organizers of an ambitious ultra trail that brings together a total of 15 municipalities and 4 regions, circling the city of Alcoy. You'll be running in full nature, a feast for your eyes 😍. Just like at a good Spanish table, there's something for every appetite! 😋 The Ultra Mediterrania offers no less than seven courses, each with its own unique flavor. The most effort-hungry will be thrilled with the XXL menu: an ultra hard course of 162 km and 8,050 mD+ passing through 10 peaks over 1000 meters of altitude 📈, reserved for those with strong guts 😵‍💫. Slightly more manageable but still challenging, the 90 km with its 4,400 mD+ plunges you into a long adventure 🥱. The 55 km and 2,200 mD+ offer the perfect balance between intensity and pleasure, allowing you to fully enjoy the region's terrain without being completely consumed by the mountain 😅. For fans of shorter, but equally spicy formats, there's the 25 km (1,200 mD+), the 16 km (580 mD+), or even the 11 km (250 mD+) which can be done in a joëlette. And finally, the cherry (a spicy one) on the cake 🍰: a 4 km vertical climb with 450 mD+ to ascend in one go 🥵. It's up to you to choose your main dish, but one thing is certain: whatever your format, you'll taste the trail Ultra Mediterrania spirit.

Once your medal is around your neck, you can also indulge off the trails because the region of Valencia and Alicante is full of wonders ✨. In the middle of January, while your amigos are indulging in fondue and raclette during their ski vacation ⛷️, you'll be able to tease them by tanning your face on a restaurant terrace 😎 in front of bajoques farcides (stuffed peppers 🫑), a borreta (cod stew with potatoes and spinach), an olleta alcoyana (a kind of cassoulet 😋), or a pericana (made with peppers and dried fish). Once full, you can explore Alcoy: Plaza de España, the archaeological museum, Art Nouveau city, medieval towers... 😍 And if you have some energy left after your race, you can go hiking in the Serra de Mariola natural parks and the Font Roja 🌳.

Venga ya, quickly register for the Ultra Mediterrania!
