The event in a few words

Barça doesn’t just rhyme with "Tiki-taka" or Sagrada Família; it is also a monumental playground for your legs 🦵. Located in Sant Fruitós de Bages, in the heart of the Barcelona province, the UTBCN invites you to a total immersion in the Serranía del Bages 📍. We are talking about 5 tough events stretching over a late spring weekend 🌷. Between the massifs of Caselles and del Vintró, there's no fooling around: distances range from 6 km for the hike to the hefty 61 km 😲. These distances turn this site into a massive open-air stadium. We’re looking at a strategic proximity format, ideal for testing your watts before the summer heat arrives ☀️.

The route is like an adventure film in sets reminiscent of Indiana Jones 🤠. You'll dash through an insane cultural heritage, dotted with castles, churches, and hermitages that watch over your strides 💨. The profile is what we call "leg-breaking": constant elevation changes between 200 mD+ and 600 mD+, never really giving you a break 📈. You'll skirt the Llobregat, admire the Els Tres Salts waterfalls, and cross ruins like Tines Solanes 🏛️. Here, geography is king: moving from moist torrent beds to airy zones with panoramic views up to Collet de Cantagalls 🤩. It’s wild, raw, and loaded with agricultural history with these dry stone constructions, reminding you that the ancients struggled long before you on these slopes! 🥵

Here, no frills, but a strong ethic certified by the Biosphere label 🍀. We're here for the performance, but in total respect for wildlife and flora 🌿. Forget disposable cups and get ready with your own hydration system, as the organization doesn’t joke about eco-responsibility ‼️ In the village, camaraderie prevails, especially if you commit in a team (of 2, 3, or 4) where the rule is simple: we start together, we finish together 🤝. No leaving a colleague behind on the descent from Torrent de Güell to get a beer faster! ❌

After the race, enjoy Sant Fruitós de Bages for total relaxation 🧘‍♀️. You can visit the imposing monastery of Sant Benet de Bages, a medieval jewel, which you will have lightly touched upon at the end of the course ⛪. It's the perfect spot for a family outing or to meditate on your sore muscles 🤭. If you still have some energy, lose yourself in the surrounding vineyards to discover the winegrowers' "barracks" 🍇. It's less tiring than a climb to the Serrat de la Mussarra and just as instructive for your general culture 🧠.

Come on, we're just waiting for you on the registration list! 🎟️

4 reasons to join this race

Historical heritage at every step 🏰
Running here is like running through an open-air museum 🤩. You're not just looking at your watch; you're passing by centuries-old hermitages like Sant Pere Martir and castles that have witnessed centuries of Catalan history. It's the perfect blend of physical effort and general knowledge to shine at your next dinner 🍽️.
Discovering the Dry Stone Tines 🏺
It's the local curiosity that will amaze you on this trail 🏃‍♂️. The course takes you past unique world constructions: the "tines" in the middle of the forest, ancient vats where farmers made wine on the spot to avoid transportation 🚘. It's a race through time and history!
Team adventure 🤝
The UTBCN offers a team format with 2, 3, or 4 members where solidarity is not an empty word 💬. You must stay within 2 minutes of each other throughout the course. It's the ultimate friendship test: if you don't kill each other by the 50th kilometer, you're bonded for life! ⛓️
A certified eco-responsible ethic 🌿
Here, nature is no joke. With the Biosphere label, you participate in an event that minimizes its impact: no disposable plastic, markings removed the same day, and a strict respect for wildlife. Running is good, but running clean is even better for the planet 🌎.

A few more words

This course aka "ULTRA" is 61 km with 1,976 mD+ and is the true jewel of the UTBCN 🔥.

Your journey begins at Sant Fruitós de Bages for a monumental loop through the Serranía del Bages. After a lively start, you'll quickly reach the Tines de les Solanes at km 12.2 for your first refreshment stop (liquid), in the heart of a unique dry stone heritage ⚡️. The route then heads east, passing through Sant Esteve Vila-Rasa for your second refreshment stop at km 18.1 (liquid), before tackling serious challenges in the Serrat del Forn-la Vila 🤝.

At km 25.2, the third refreshment stop, solid for the first time, before tackling the big climb of the course! 🏃‍♂️ Here the profile becomes truly demanding with a series of hills, which will lead you to the highest point of the route: St Pere Martir at km 33.1 🍏. You can regain your strength while enjoying a breathtaking view at 671 m altitude 😳.

The second part of the course takes you towards Talamanca, before starting the final descent. You'll cross the Coll de les Generes at km 57, with the final refreshment stop, before reaching the finish line 🏁.

Between technical trails and panoramas of the massif, prepare for an intense effort of nearly 2,000 mD+ 📈.
