The event in a few words

If you’re looking for a start where the result takes a back seat and solidarity and energy matter most, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity run is made for you 🧡. This isn’t an ordinary race – it’s a manifestation of support that has been bringing people with big hearts together for two decades.

It started with a small step…

The history of the WOŚP Foundation itself goes back to 1993, when Jerzy Owsiak organized the first fundraiser for pediatric cardiac surgery. Since then, the Orchestra has become a national institution of empathy. The run itself, under the name “Count Yourself In with Diabetes”, joined the Finale in 2007. At first, it was an intimate initiative meant to draw attention to the problem of diabetes, especially among pregnant women. It quickly turned out, however, that Poles want to help “run out” health for others.

Warsaw – the beating heart of the run

Although the run has spread across the world, Warsaw remains its beating heart. Here, over a distance of 5 kilometers, thousands of runners in distinctive orange shirts form a river of goodwill flowing right through the city center. The route, leading around Bank Square and historic streets, is open to everyone – from professionals, to amateurs, to families with children and seniors with Nordic Walking poles.

This event is not only sport, but real support – the proceeds from the starter packs traditionally fund the purchase of insulin pumps for pregnant women. Thanks to your effort, expectant mothers living with diabetes can get through this special time more safely, using the most modern technology. Every step you take gives their fight a unique meaning 👣.

Orange energy without borders

While Warsaw draws the biggest crowds, the idea of the run knows no geographic barriers. Local WOŚP Chapters organize their own editions – from frosty runs in Suwałki, through seaside routes in Gdańsk, all the way to Polish diaspora initiatives in London, Brussels or Chicago. 🇬🇧🇧🇪🇺🇸

If you can’t make it to the official route, you can join the action from anywhere on the globe. The virtual run allows participants from Australia, Asia, or both Americas to log their distance using an app, uniting with the orange wave at the same time. 🧡

What after the finish? The capital to the rhythm of the Orchestra

After the energetic finish of the run in Warsaw, the emotions don’t die down at all. The area around Bank Square and the Palace of Culture and Science turns into the center of the universe.

Be sure to drop by the WOŚP village to feel the Finale atmosphere firsthand. You can listen to energetic concerts on the main stage 🎸, take a peek backstage and see the live TV studio, where Jerzy Owsiak announces the next millions on the counter, or take part in first aid workshops and see modern medical equipment purchased by the Foundation.

If your legs need some calm after 5 kilometers, go for a walk in the nearby Saxon Garden, where you can catch your breath under the shade of centuries-old trees after the race emotions 🌳. Family fun is guaranteed with a visit to the nearby Museum of Illusions, where after the physical effort you can put your sense of balance to the test and take amazing photos 🌀.

For a well-deserved, warming feast, choose hot chocolate at the legendary Wedel Chocolate Lounge or traditional Polish sour rye soup (żurek) in one of the restaurants along Krakowskie Przedmieście 🍜. Be sure to cap the evening by taking part in “Light to the Sky” – a spectacular light show that sends a signal of love straight into the clouds.

It’s a run after which endorphins, pride in helping, and a sense of community will stay with you for a very long time! 🏅
