The event in a few words

Forget the crowded ramblas and the selfies in front of the Sagrada Família 🤳. This May, we take you to the backcountry of Catalonia, where the elevation stings more than the bravas sauce 🌶️. The X Trail Series Run - Vallgorguina is a bit like the "Fight Club" of the trail: the first rule is you'll end up with dust between your teeth 🦷. Located in the province of Barcelona, in the heart of the Montnegre massif, the event offers you three courses to push you to the limit 🔴. A 10 km with 300 mD+, the 17 km with 500 mD+, and the main course, the Xtrem format of 22 km with 700 mD+ 📈. By mid-May, the Catalan sun is already starting to show its claws, so prepare to sweat seriously ☀️.

The course? It's a joyful confusion of single tracks winding between the pines 🌲. We're not in La La Land; here it's more like Mad Max trail version ⛰️. It constantly keeps you on your toes, it's intense, and if you let your guard down for a second, a root will remind you of the laws of gravity 👨‍🔬. Running through these forests, you're following in the footsteps of the Iberians. Vallgorguina is globally renowned for its Dolmen of Ca l’Arenes 🪨. Legend has it that if you pass by fast enough, you might hear the ghost of an ancestor telling you that your pace is sluggish 🗿. It's this blend of mystic and technical that gives Montnegre its "Jurassic Park" feel, where every climb is a true test of endurance 🪽.

As for the atmosphere, it’s pure Catalan spirit 🇪🇸. We won't lie to you, this isn't the New York Marathon with gospel choirs on every corner. Here, the energy is raw and sincere 🤝. It's mostly the scent of warming cream at the starting line and the cheers echoing in the local dialect 🎼. The numbers speak for themselves, with hundreds of enthusiasts ready to give their all (with love ❤️) on trails that link the best spots around 📍. We're here for the adrenaline, the kind that makes you say "never again" at kilometer 18 and "when did registration open again?" once you cross the finish line 🏁.

The saying goes, after the effort comes the reward 🤓. If your legs still allow you to walk without wobbling like a penguin, head over to visit the Corredor sanctuary 🏛️. It’s the perfect spot for an Instagram photo that will make your colleagues think you had a zen weekend 🧘‍♀️. And since you're in the land of gastronomy, don't leave without trying a genuine local "butifarra" 😋. It's the essential caloric reward. For those coming with family, the region abounds with natural parks where kids can run (also) but without the stopwatch pressure ⏱️.

Vale, Vale, let's get started. The bag, the bib—we hope everything is ready 🧳.

4 reasons to join this race

The Dolmen-Speed 🗿
Running next to Bronze Age megalithic monuments doesn't happen every morning between two red lights 🚦. In Vallgorguina, you take a leap back in time by a few millennia in one stride. It's now or never to channel your inner Indiana Jones, without the whip but with trail shoes. A local curiosity that adds a soulful touch to your GPS track. 🦴
The natural park "Wild" version 🌲
Forget the asphalt and switch to full immersion mode in Montnegre ⛰️. The trails connect like a giant green puzzle designed to test your ankles. It's wild, it's green, and it's the best way to disconnect the brain. If you're looking for the solitude of long-distance running, you're in luck, with the view included. ✨
Adrenaline infusion ⚡
The slogan doesn't lie, it's pure adrenaline. The course profile is challenging: steep climbs, technical descents, and no respite 💤. It's the ideal format for those who love courses where you constantly have to adjust your pace. In short, it's anything but a walk in the park, and that's exactly why we love it. 🔥
The Catalan "vibe" 🇪🇸
Participating in an Xtrail Series race is like getting a dose of Mediterranean friendliness 🪸. The organization is spot on, but the spirit remains that of a big family of athletes. You come for the challenge, you stay for the warm welcome and that unique fervor that animates Spanish races. It's authentic, no frills, and it's wonderfully exhilarating. 💛

A few more words

The XTRAIL XTREM VALLGORGUINA is the major challenge of 22 km and 700 mD+ 📈.

A sequence of demanding hills in the Montnegre massif where managing your heart rate will be the key 🔑. The passages in the forest are dense and the technical sections require constant vigilance to avoid kissing the Catalan ground 🇪🇸.

The final descent towards the village is a true moment of liberation and pride 😁.
