The event in a few words

Take on the wild and spectacular meanders of the Pindos Mountains in northwestern Greece! Zagori Mountain Running is one of the most important and most scenic mountain races in Europe, held in the Zagori region (listed by UNESCO). Runners can choose from a variety of distances: from the brutal ultra TeRA 60 km, through the 33 km mountain marathon, to 21 km and the shorter 10 km 🏃. The course leads across the rugged ridgelines of the Tymfi massif, along the edge of the monumental Vikos Gorge, and past fairytale 19th-century stone bridges and traditional black-slate villages.

After crossing the finish line and catching your breath, the iconic Zagorochoria region invites you to unforgettable mountain relaxation, Greek-style:

Head to the Oxya viewpoint or the cliff-perched Aghia Paraskevi monastery in Monodendri, from where there is a sheer, breathtaking view down into the Vikos Gorge (one of the deepest gorges in the world) 🏞️. With the family, explore the trail of famous, masterfully crafted stone arch bridges—led by the iconic, three-tier Plakidas Bridge (Kalogeriko)—or cool your tired legs in the crystal-clear, emerald Voidomatis River 🌉. And how about a trek to the legendary Drakolimni? The Dragon Lake lies high in the Tymfi Mountains, a post-glacial basin (over 2,000 m a.s.l.) inhabited by small alpine newts that resemble miniature dragons 🐉.

To finish the day, sample Epirus’ regional pride—traditional, crispy baked filo pies such as Alevropita (cheese pie) or Kreatopita (meat pie). For a bigger appetite, order slow-roasted lamb, and toast your success with a glass of the local spirit Tsipouro with a touch of anise 🍷.
