Tread the paths of the Estéron

The Southeast of France ☀️ invites you to enjoy a sporty weekend in the heart of the Alpes-Maritimes, within the Estéron Departmental Park 🌳. The Foulées de l’Estéron offers trails and hikes suitable for all ages and fitness levels 🏃‍♂️.

On the agenda: three trails (12, 22, and 50 km) and four kids' races. All courses wind through forest paths and mountain trails, providing fresh air and breathtaking views 🌬️.

The event takes place in a friendly and festive atmosphere 🥳, centered around the villages of Roquestéron, La Roque-en-Provence, and nearby areas. After the physical challenge, take the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and its charming villages 🌺⛰️.

The Foulées de l’Estéron: where running, pushing your limits, and marveling at one of the most beautiful areas in the Southeast come together! 🎉

So Nice! Your playground between Azure and peaks

You think the Alpes-Maritimes are limited to the Promenade des Anglais and the Cannes Festival? Think again. For us trail runners, the "06" is above all a striking contrast. That means starting with your feet in the water and ending with your head in the clouds 😶‍🌫️. Welcome to a territory of 4,299 km² where the trail calendar is as dense as the Mediterranean vegetation 🌅. Here, you don't choose between sea and mountains, you take both.

A postcard setting... that stings the legs! ⛰️

The department, whose prefecture is Nice (Nissa la Bella) ☀️, is a raw gem. You will run on the paths of the former County of Nice, where history can be read in the stone of perched villages like Èze or Saint-Paul-de-Vence. But be careful, the terrain is demanding. Whether you aim for an accessible nature run or a mythical ultra like the UTCAM alias Ultra Trail® Côte d'Azur Mercantour, expect some technical challenges. The limestone ground is "rock" that rolls underfoot, typical of the region. As for the weather, if the climate is mild with 300 days of sunshine, remember that the environment changes quickly: you can sweat in the scrubland and find snow a few hours later in the Mercantour National Park, realm of the wolf and alpine biodiversity.

Culture, Dialect, and Recovery 🍋

Here, the accent sings and Nissart is sometimes spoken. If you hear a volunteer shouting "Mangiaci!" (Eat!), it's time to refuel. After swallowing some positive elevation, recovery is done the local way. Forget the energy gels at the finish! Here, it's Socca (chickpea pancake), Pissaladière, and Swiss chard tart. It's also the land of sports legends and celebrities, but on the trails, there's no red carpet. Just you, the slope, and breathtaking panoramas, from the Valley of Marvels to the lemon trees of Menton.

Ready to take on the challenge? 👟

Whether you're a summit warrior or a Sunday jogger exploring the Grasse hinterland, it's time to find your next challenge. The 06 offers you a rare diversity, from the coastal trails of the Cap d'Antibes to sharp peaks over 3000m in altitude. You don’t have to go far to find a race of your choice! This French department is fortunate to offer a number of races like the Trail des Merveilles, the Trail d'Èze, l'Urban trail of Mandelieu, the Raid EDHEC or even the Foulées de l’Estéron! Yes, you should be tempted, don't wait any longer to reserve a bib.

The starting line is waiting for you, scroll and choose your race! 👇
