Salomon Ecotrail Paris
What is the EcoTrail Paris course? Between state-owned forests, the Seine riverbanks and a legendary finish, here is the route for each distance, format by format.
The EcoTrail Paris offers nine distances, but all courses share the same logic: start in western Île-de-France, cross the major state-owned forests, then converge on Paris.
Three forest massifs feature on almost all of the longer routes: the Versailles state-owned forest, the Clamart woods and the Meudon forest. The terrain is rolling in places, more leg-breaking as soon as the course climbs toward the Meudon observatory. The race remains labeled UTMB Qualifier and ITRA, which explains a technical route despite its urban setting.
Format by format: where it starts, where it climbs 🏃 Discovery formats (10 and 20 km)
Usually starting from the Saint-Cloud estate, for a 90% natural and not very hilly course. Ideal for discovering the atmosphere of the EcoTrail Paris without tackling the most demanding sections of the route.
Intermediate formats (30 and 45 km)
The “30 km Trail” sets off from the terrace of the Meudon observatory, a site usually closed to the public. The “45 km Trail” starts from the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Both routes then pass through the Saint-Cloud estate before running along the Seine riverbanks for several kilometers, then reaching the Pont d’Iéna.
Ultra formats (80 and 120 km)
The “80 km Trail”, the event’s historic distance since 2008, starts from the Élancourt hill. The route successively passes through the Meudon observatory and the Saint-Cloud estate, before the famous climb back along the Seine up to the Pont d’Iéna, finishing on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower.
New for 2026, the “120 km Trail” pushes the limit even further: start from the Rambouillet castle, crossing the Chevreuse valley, then joining the 80 km route around Meudon. A demanding race, designed for long-distance regulars.
Key turning points to watch on the course ⏱
Three sections structure the race, whatever distance you choose.
The forest crossings (Versailles, Clamart, Meudon) concentrate most of the elevation gain, with switchback trails that break the rhythm of runners who go out too fast early on 🌿 .
The run back up along the Seine riverbanks, on formats 30 km and above, marks the shift to the urban environment. A fast section, but one where the fatigue built up in the forest often makes itself felt.
Finally, the finish remains the real highlight: Pont d’Iéna for the intermediate formats, first floor of the Eiffel Tower for the 80 km and 120 km. Enough to forget heavy legs long enough for a photo 🗼 .
Whether you start from the Palace of Versailles or Élancourt hill, the EcoTrail Paris course always keeps the same promise: finish in the heart of Paris, feet in the Seine and eyes on the Eiffel Tower. All that’s left is to choose your route and book your bib 🏁 .
